I just found out that I am pregnant and we are so excited!! :D

We have been on a long road with secondary infertility for about 2 years and have gone through many, many tests and our prayers have finally been answered. (Thank You JESUS!!)

Anyway, we are cruising in about 8 weeks and now I have to think about everything all over again as now I may need to change things a little bit.

I am not one to get sea sick and I have not had any morning sickness so I am hoping that stays the same while on the cruise. I was also hoping to indulge in the gourmet food while I was on this cruise but I have to nix that and eat in moderation because I will probably have gestational diabetes with this pregnancy like I did with my DD.

I just went on a shopping spree (here in RI we are having our summer clearance) and I purchased all new clothes for this cruise and I even splurged on a new bathing suit!! I am hoping that these clothes still fit me - ugh!!

Has anyone else ever been in the same situation??

My DH and I are going to start trying to get pregnant in February. We wanted to get a couple of debts paid off before getting pregnant. This will be our first child.

We will be cruising in May and wonder what I will have to change myself.

Again, congradulations!!!

Congratulations! :sunny:

Be SURE to get a Medical Clearance Form from Disney in advance to let them know about your pregnancy. Although you will be sailing well in advance of the cut-off date (24th week) you should still have the form completed so they know your medical status.

I wish you a pregnancy free of morning sickness and enjoy your new bundle of joy! :)

I also suffered from secondary infertility and just laid down my 4 month old bundle of joy. We now have two sons our 4 month old and our 6 year old. We are enjoying every minute of it and I am sure that you will too!!

Congratulations on your pregnancy, may it be smooth sailing. I don't know what Disney's clearance form says, but you should consider checking your Rubella (AKA German Measles) status. Hopefully you will be immune (this is a regular lab test that you should have had with all of your other early routine blood tests) & have nothing to be concerned about. I recently read in our newspaper that there was a crew member on DCL with Rubella (other parts of the world do not immunize like we do) & Disney had to notify thousands of people. It's not a problem for almost everybody, except pregnant women who are not immune. Your doctor or midwife can advise you on this especially if you are not immune. My second recommendation is to carry along a copy of your prenatal records, just in case there is any sort of problem.

Congratulations! That is wonderful!

Best wishes for a healthy and colic-free baby!

Well, sort of! When we traveled in Sept of 2001 my friend was pregnant. She had a great time but made sure to take every opportunity to rest and obviously avoid things like the hot tub. She also got a massage at the Spa that she said was wonderful!

I am a diabetic so I've been through that on the trip. It is possible to follow a good diabetic diet, but you just have to be very careful. If you want some of that that yummy sufflee at Palo, stay away from the bread that they will bring and that ort of thing. The other thing that you can do is to get some exercise! Either make use of the gym at the Spa or take a few laps walking around deck 4. That will go a long way to helping you keep those sugars down!

Good luck and CONGRATS on getting pregnant! We were just starting our first round of fertility treatments (clomid) when I got pregnant with Katie so I know how exciting it is after trying for so long!

RIDISNEYLOVERS: Congrats on the pregnancy. As an Ob/Gyn nurse I know the kinds of things you have been through. I'm so glad for a happy outcome, now you can really celebrete on the cruise.
May I suggest a few things? First check with your doctor or widwife about medications you may take along for morning/sea sickness. Even if you've never had trouble before. A prescription for Visteril or Phenergan may come in handy. While gestational diabetes can be a concern it does not really start effecting the baby until around 26-29 weeks. This is when the baby starts to produce it's own insulin. While a healthy diet is always important, you may be able to indulge a little bit. I would also bring a copy of your prenatal record with you, and know your blood type. This is Very impotant if you are Rh Neg. If for some reason you miscarried while away from home you would need a Rhogam injection.
Please keep in mind, these are ONLY suggestions. I am just a nurse. You need to check with you health care provider. I hope this helps. And happy sailing.:D

CONGRATS!!!!

Last year when we were planning our very first cruise I found out I was pregnant! I had to completely change our cruise dates because of the 24 week limit (I was 23 1/2 weeks at our cruise!) You will have a great time. I get seasick easily, but NEVER got sick on our cruise. I ate quite a bit and had a wonderful time. I did go to the spa to get a massage. They had to do it different because one of the scents in the aromatherapy (I think it was lavender) isn't safe for pregnant women. The CM also did my massage a bit differently.

Enjoy yourself and enjoy the pampering!

Hi,

Your clothing should fit unless your like I was, anxious to look pregnant. I gained 64 Lbs. with my first and only so far.

I'm sure everyone tells you this but, ENJOY YOURSELF.

And one last piece of advice I got from a baby shower card.

Sleep now, and never hold your pee.

!!!!!CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
THAT IS WONDERFUL NEWS!!! ITS GONNA BE A GREAT TRIP!!!

Thanks everyone for the responses and I will take all of your advice.

I have more things to add to my list of things to do. One of those is getting a medical clearance form. If I didn't post this on this board I probably wouldn't have known about getting that form. Thanks webmastermichelle!

My DH and I were going to try the surial bath on this cruise - do you think we can still do it?

Thanks again,

Lisa

Lisa, this happened to me, too! We had to move up our cruise date from Feb. to Jan., but we're still going. Like you, we had difficulties conceiving this time, didn't think it would happen...and here we are! I will also have to watch my diet (had gest. diabetes with Buzz 5 years ago), but I may have a couple splurges on the cruise. I also plan to walk daily, and mostly relax. We will be doing snorkelling at the ports, as we promise dthe kids, but I'm sure I can do less and hang out on the shore/boat as needed. I DO get motion sick--I plan to get those sea bands, and also talk to my doctor. Also, DH and I were goign to do the Surial bath, but I've now decided to skip all spa treatments--better safe than sorry, not that important to me, etc. I would be concerned because reports of the surial spa is that it's very hot and steamy. But, look into it yourself and decide if it's something you want. I already looked through my maternity things to see what I can wear, I'm hoping this past summer's tankinin will still fit so I can bring it and my maternity suit. Good luck, and let us know how it goes!

Congrats!!!!!!! How exciting!!!!!
We had twin girls using invitro, when they were 1 we dicided to try for another. We did not want to go though all the medical stuff again, so we just tried the old fashion way. Since our infertitity was unexplained, the doctor said it could happen.

Years go by. We are busy with the girls & every once in a while we comment on going to the doctor. But we don't. Then we start planning a Disney trip. We started planning a year before. Get everything all set. The girls will be almost 5 when we go. We are all excited. Then I don't feel so good. I wonder what it is.
Yes, I'm pregnant. i have to admit one of my first thoughts (after shock) was " Oh no, I just ruined the girls Disney trip!"

I was twenty weeks when we went to Disney World. Felt good, didn't look pregnant, just like I needed to lose 10 pounds. So I admit, I went on some of the rides that they say if your pregnant you can't go on. We sometime wonder if that's why Gunner is such a wild man.

Have a great trip!

Beth
