We have continuous live coverage of the tornado damage this afternoon. They have now raised the confirmed dead to 19 with at least a couple more people unaccounted for. I slept through the entire thing. The worst of it moved through to the south of us. The Villages, of course, are to the north. Seeing the damage, I can only imagine what the people affected are going through. I count myself as so lucky! I can't even imagine what the death toll would have been if it had moved through the WDW area where some of the larger hotels reside. Very scary.

My heart goes out to those who have lost their love ones and their homes. :sad1:

 I'm happy you're ok, but sad for the families suffering. :sad1:

I completely agree with you. I was up this am (don't know what possessed me) and saw all the coverage. Some of our weather people derserve some big kudos, especially the guy on the local Fox channel. He was calling it right on every step of the way.
My heart goes out to everyone invovled. I am going to go donate some blood tomorrow. My son's scout troop is gearing up to help over the weekend as well.

Good for you and your son! I wish I could give blood. They won't take mine. However, I think I've figured out a good place to donate about 200 brand new WDW stuffed animals that are sitting in tubs in my garage. There will be alot of little kids needing toys and something to hold onto when they go to bed at night!

I can not imagine what they are going through. Glad that you are okay. I just sent an email to a lady I used to work with who now lives in The Villages. Her and her husband were supposed to be coming up here to stay with their son for the month of February. I am hoping she responds that they made it up here safe and sound.

That is an awesome idea!

Peg I'm glad you and the others are safe.

What a Dear to be once again thinking of the children like you always do.

Our prayers go out for the one effected by this.

I hope your friends are okay!!

My parents live in the Villages - they woke up around 3am to the storm and didn't really think anything of it. Kind of wandered around looking out windows to see what was going on. They didn't have any damage. Thank God. So scary.

Jenny:)

I agree with you Peg. It goes to show you how quickly something can happen. I slept through the storms last night.

I feel so bad for these people.

Hadn't heard of this yet.

tornadoes suck, and thats not a pun.

I'm a may 3rd 1999 survivor in OK, we lost everything, but we were physicly ok, those affected today will need all the support you can give them.

19?:scared1: :sad2: :sad2: I saw the pics of the devastation.:sad2: One thing I've learned from going through hurricanes, the pictures never really show the full extent of the damage. If it looks bad in pictures and video, it looks much worse in person. :sad2: :sad2:

We feel the same way.. We woke up around 3 and could not believe the rain. I have never seen it rain that bad. My kids go to school in Leesburg and a little boy in my Dd's class lost his house. It is so sad. The devastation is hard to watch. My prayers have gone out to everyone affected.

So glad you and the rest are safe. My heart goes out to the ones who lost loved ones in the storms. I will keep them in my prayers.

Mine live there too and they are also ok. They had the same experience that yours did-wandering around the house, watching the lightening. They are in Spanish Springs. My aunt and uncle live over past the polo grounds and they were ok too.
It seems to have hit the newer section near the Arnold Palmer Course-at least that's what it looked like from the NBC coverage.

That is so true! There is nothing like stepping outside (or driving up to)your home and seeing everything you and your neighbors have worked so hard for totally destroyed. The TV just cannot do it justice.

My prayers are with them. Everytime I've seen coverage today, it's brought tears to my eyes. Those people are dealing with having all their security ripped from them. It's so scary. Just the uncertainty you have in those first days...makes you totally miserable.

I hope they receive everything they need and have a speedy recovery.:grouphug:

The path of the tornado was several blocks north of us and it's mind-boggling how homes can be destroyed just a short distance from those with no damage at all. Our lights never even flickered.

This is still where we want to live, though. A blizzard or ice storm might change that...
