I am so ANGRY (warning, bit rant within)

My company has just been sent a very nasty email accusing my partner of being rude and disrespectful to a client! I cannot begin to think where this information has come from! I was in the room at the time this supposedly happened and everyone was smiling and having a good time. (Btw, we're a music webzine and this happened during an interview with a band.) Apparently we insulted their "lack of talent" to the guy's face and said they were all hype. None of this ever happened and we have an audio tape that proves it! I'm waiting for the band's people to get back to me but I am so mad about it all. I just want to call them and scream but I can't. Worst thing is supposedly this has gone all around EMI Records, if it has this will really affect us in the future and we don't need that. I want to know who's said all this and what's going on. I'm praying that two similar company names have been mixed up or an email accidentaly sent to the wrong address. Otherwise this is gonna be a massive clean up operation...

Bummer. If the story if all around EMI already that just proves that they are no talent publicity hounds. Pick yourself up and brush yourself off. Get a transript of the entire tape and review it to see if someone said something that could have been taken the wrong way. Perhaps you can send the transcript off to the group's "people" and have them review it. I really don't know your industry so I'm not sure what will help.

Yeah that's what I've said to them. I've offered to send through the audio recording (it was done digitally so can be emailed) and anything else they want. The wierd thing is that they're accusing us of saying something specific that particularly offended them and I know it was never said. That screams of incorrect information but I can't understand how, unless the band member confused some names and a previous interviewer had been rude? These people had better get back to me soon!
