the hour countdown has begun!!

I am very anxious and we are all getting edgy. My 9 yr old DD is crying this am because she will miss the dogs[I will to and not showing her my tears]

I am always anixous before a trip being an adult and leaving for 10 days all the responisbilties.

making sure we all have what we need- cleaning the house- doing last minute details.

my head is spinning I haven't slept in 3 days thru the night lets hope tomorrow I don't over sleep!!

I am also nervous my Uncle had surgery last week and last night they took him to the ER- so I am also concerned for him and not knowing whether we still will be going or not-

oohh vey what do I do to calm down...

Take a deep breath Anita, everything will be fine. My DD takes pictures of her cats with her on trips. You might take a couple of pics and find a stuffed animal that resembles your pups for her to hang on to.
DD also buys special treats for them so they can enjoy vacation too. (She's 11 years old, but has been doing this for years so it's sorta a tradition. )

Have fun!

I've been reading these boards for months and have acquired a LOT of information. Now I'm trying to remember it all while I pack so I don't forget anything important. So much packing can't be done until the last minute that I'm always stressed the last day or so. After all, you can't pack your toothbrush until the morning you leave!!

With all the stress of getting ready, I REALLY need a Disney vacation!

Make sure you take some lime green with you and I'll keep an eye out for you while we are there!

I just had the cat sitter in on Saturday. My heart broke as I told her all about how my Ally likes to eat in the dining room away from the two boys (Simba and Paddles - don't we all have a Simba?). I made sure to tell her if anything happens, to just take them to the hospital and have whatever needs to be done taken care of. Seriously, I'd sell my house to save my Ally.

I swear she knows. She has a bed in our bedroom, but the past few nights, she's been sleeping right by my side, under the covers and all.

I've also made list after list of things to be packed! Sometimes, I'm sitting here at work and I'll think "Sinus Advil!" and grab a Post-It and write that down. I'm going to actually pack tonight though....my best friend and her DH are coming with us, so we're going to pack on the phone together tonight.

DH is obsessed with packing the First Aid kit.

Then there is the big decision of what to bring to the PARKS....I've pretty much decided that if I need gauze or an ace bandage, I'll just go back to the room! ::yes::

Try to relax today. Soon you'll be at WDW and all the worries seem to fade. Happens to me everytime-- I think that's why I love that place so much.

HAVE A GREAT TRIP!!!

AllyandJack, tell your DH that all the parks have first aid places and if you need something that you'd have in your kit you can go to first aid and they will give you the supplies.

Anita, re missing the animals...I always do before leaving, but once I'm on vacation I'm too distracted to worry about them. This summer we went away for a few days (not WDW) and when we pulled up to the hotel my 4yo asked, "Is this our hotel?". When I told him it was he said, "I miss our dogs!". (he didn't mention missing the cats...) He was so pathetic he was adorable. lol

Hang in there and realize that you'll be having fun soon. I'll be in your boat in a few days. I'm going over my "to-do" list daily and trying not to leave everything to the last day or two. Besides getting ready for our trip (and getting carpools list together, etc since the kids are staying here with grandparents) I need to help one son pack for outdoor ed, including whatever shopping needs to be done for that. Also, two of my boys have birthdays this week and I have NOTHING bought for them. Yikes!

Thanks for the encouragement!!

suitcases are packed and locked-- and loaded in the car.

great idea about taking pics of the dogs and bringing them with us I am going to do that now!!

My DH gets upset w/ me because I get so emotional when going away- this year it is worse then ever before.

I always get sad leaving my parents and family behind--- I know I will be over it as soon as I walki into MCO!!

I'll look out for lime green- as I do not have anything lime green I am running out to the stores to see if I can find something!!!!

Funny, I was just worrying about my dog last night. It is getting cool and we are going down to WDW in a couple of weeks. I was worried that the kennel where we board him may not be warm enough. And this is a dog that we got at the shelter. He had been picked up off the streets and he survived then! Of course, now he is spoiled rotten. We miss him but we have used this kennel before and he always seem fine when we pick him up. My youngest loves Disney put she sometimes cries and misses our doggy when we are on vacation. Take care, your trip will be fantastic!!!! Lacee

Oh how I can relate to this thread.........and I know how you feel about your Ally, my weakness is Keiki I always said that I would have to take bereavement when his time comes and he is just turning 20!......I miss my kitties so much when I go on vacation, and I DO take photos with me and I AM an adult!
Once you get here you will be busy and it kinda gets put to the back of your mind, it's amazing how animals touch our lives and sometimes we just do not realize how much until we go on vacation or are away from them for awhile.............have a great trip! The weather seems to be changing, perhaps Fall will arrive in FL a little early and that will mean less humidity, I for one hope so!
