I am looking for the name and artist for this song?

There is this song I remember from my childhood but it seems even older than that. I was born in 1972..,

The song is about a young man that gets into trouble and the Mister Jones that always helps him has died.

I remember some lyrics but I can't find it anywhere.

"I'm in troubloe come and get me Mr. Jones" "It's too late, he's going home..."

Does anyone have any idea who sang this?

I googled Mr. Jones song and it gave me a couple, one by the counting crows and one by bob dylan which was out in 1963 try it that way.

It's been driving me nuts trying to find it. It affected me greatly when I was a kid and I would cry each time I heard it. I have no idea why but thank you so much for helping me out.

You're welcome. I have songs like that myself -- like "Daisy A Day," about a man who promises his love that he will bring her a daisy every day, and he does. The chorus is like, "I'll bring you a daisy a day, dear; I'll bring you a daisy a day; I'll love you till the rivers run still; and the four winds we know blow away." And at the end of the song, he's carrying a daisy up to her grave, still bringing her a daisy a day even after she's died. Makes me cry every time! So, you're not alone!
