Thank you!!! Do you know what area is he best? We will be spending a lot of time at the resort. I have a 9 and 11 year old who will want to swim a lot.
There are four pool areas at the resort - two that are quite large and two smaller area pools that are intended to serve guests who are staying away from those main pool areas and don't want to make the trek to them.
From the resort map, look in the upper left at the pool area marked as R that's surrounded by buildings 79 and 84. That's the newest pool and that group of buildings are the newest at the resort. That's a nice area that features the Copa Loca Bar & Grill (service to the tables at least during the evenings) and a lot of deck chairs around the pool area. There's a childrens' pool with a couple of small towers and water guns and a 'regular' pool. The one drawback, in my opinion, of that area is that, though the pools are good sized, the whole area is relatively compact for the number of people that it's intended to serve. Maybe it's just that there are a lot of lounges, chairs and tables all around.
In the upper right, behind buildings 90-92, there's a standard pool marked as P that I've never seen over-used so usually plenty of swimming space.
Similarly, in the lower right another area pool, marked as Q, is located behind buildings 97 and 98. I think that pool is a little larger than the one at P and also falls into the category of being little-used.
And in the center of the map, marked as O, is the original major pool area that's behind the reservation building (building 80). That area features the Marketplace convenience store, a Pizza Hut Express and, I think, an ice cream place. The main pool there is quite large and there's a nice lap pool there, too. I think that there are a couple of hot tubs there as well.
Though Grande Vista is quite a large resort the main pool at the center of the resort is easily walkable from any building but buildings 80-83 and 93-94 are the best locations for usage of that pool. Note that 93 and 94 are across the resort's main street from the pool area. Also note that parking is at a premium for buildings in this area.
The pool other main pool area is convenient for buildings 77-79 and 84-86 and is a short walk across the bridge over the lake from buildings 81-83 (and 80, I suppose). Lots of parking available for these buildings.
Parking also seems to be a slight problem (meaning that the people coming in late from the theme parks might not find a convenient parking space) for the other two areas of the resort.
Despite parking, we like staying in the buildings near the golf clubhouse (buildings 95-100). The furthest building, building 99, has a nice view of the golf course form the balconies, has that nice area pool just across the parking lot and is a relatively short (maybe 7 or 8 minutes) walk to the main pool (at O).
I'd suggest one of the buildings in the main pool area to give your children easy access to both major pool areas without having to cross any of the streets at the resort.
Enjoy your stay.
