I am just miserable right now. I have to keep working weekends for financial and school reasons, but it is so hard. Tommorow my DD is in a dance competition. It kills me not to watch it and be there to support her. DH and DS are going camping with scouts. AND my work assignment tommorrow is horrible! I am dreading going to work, feel so lonely, and just wish so badly I could be there for DD.

I don't blame you one bit for being so upset. I am sure, though, that your DD knows that you want to be there for her. Can someone videotape the event for you?

I'm really sorry that you're feeling so down, but I don't blame you. And I really don't know what to say to make you feel better, so I'm sending lots of hugs your way. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

My mom is going to go and help her. I will ask her to videotape, but I am not sure she will be able to do it all between making sure DD is where she is supposed to go, watch the pom's and video. I am just sitting here in tears. :sad1:

i had a similar situation with my son's christmas show. we got a video tape of it (there will be plenty-you can always get one from another parent, and can you ask one of friend's parents to help out in advance by making sure to get some closeup's of dd?). after the actual show pick out a night everyone will be home and have a "world premier night", fix popcorn, pizza, get sparkling cider and show the video! you can applaud as "the star" enters the viewing room, ask for her autograph, even get her some flowers. it will be a night to remember!

Working weekends is so hard! I've had to and I know that I'll be doing it again soon in spite of my best efforts to keep from it.

Hang in there!

Many years ago I worked nights and weekends (before children) and it was always hard when my friends and family made plans and I could not attend.

I know you want to be there for your DD, but you're being a very mature and responsible adult for working hard and paying all of your bills, and hopefully your child/children see what a great role model you are.

Hugs to you.

Thanks guys, it is so hard. I just went through with my mom how to put her hair in a bun (10 steps, can you believe it???!!!) and packed things up. Did a quick mini lesson on how to record with the video recorder, and drove her and showed her where to go. I saw all the trophies lined up, some of the posters I had to create and I swear I was going to break down and cry right there in the parking lot. I just hope tommorrow goes smooth for them.

Awwww, Vija. Makes me sad to read that all. :( Things are tough at times but you do show your are working with the options given you. Please do let us know how she does after you see it all on tape. You'll see her soon, live.

:grouphug:

I know how important this is and I feel sad for you, but your daughter knows how much you love her and that you will be with her in spirit. Now, why don't you have some tea and dry those tears honey. :flower3:
