I am getting old...

We had a storm blow through our neighborhood and pretty much everyone got new roofs. There must be a company just now getting around to their jobs b/c in the past week - they have been working on houses in my neighborhood. They have been at houses across the street from me yesterday and today.

The problem - not only do they start at the crack of dawn with the pounding that goes on all day - they are BLARING their music and all I can hear in my house is the pounding of the base.

I could handle the work noise but the pounding of the base is going to drive me over the edge....yesterday I handled it b/c it was only for a day but since they did the other house today - I think I am going to lose it after two days of it....I even left for a while to get away from it today.

and what makes it even worse is at the 3rd house across the steet - I have to listen to the teenager blare his music until all hours of the night.

DH can't hear any of it - he is blessed with bad hearing - I am cursed and can hear every little sound...

I have officially become one of those old people who hates loud music...:scared1:

We lived through house construction all around us. The workers would blare their music. I could never understand how THEY could hear it over the sound of generators, electric nail guns, and pressure washers. :headache:

For me, the problem is that I don't like OTHER PEOPLE'S loud music. My music is fine.

I never thought it was because I'm getting older, I always chocked it up to me being prickly. :goodvibes

I guess this means I'm getting old too :rolleyes1  My neighbour does the same thing. His living room is right next to my bedroom, the houses are only about 10ft apart, and I can hear everytime they blast their music. Usually at about 1:30 in the morning. Last time I called the police, but they turned it off before the cops could get there.

Do you have a town Bylaw Officer that enforces noise bylaws. I don't know how it works where you live, but here any noise that disturbs the neighbourhood unduly can be fined, whatever the time of day. This doesn't apply to construction noise, which is allowed according to the timings laid out in the the Noise Bylaw. Might be worth a phone call to the Town Office.

Since it is just today I am not going to worry about it. But if they do another house tomorrow... ;)

I know they don't care about construction in my area. When we first moved in our house - I was pregnant and crabby and construction was not finished. I was sick the whole time and often slept until 9 or 10 in the morning.

They started construction on the house across the street from me and at 7 am started blaring their music. I started with a phone call to the builder asking them to at least wait until 9 - the lady told me they were subcontractors and they couldn't do anything about it and that the builder would not try to help me - sounded like she would have if it was up to her...so she told me to call the police. Who were very nice and came to have a chat with them but told me that was all they could do. They kept the music down for about an hour.

My first thought was "who cares so long as it's hot enough out for them to be shirtless on the roof" so I guess you are old and I am not:lmao:

if all the neighboring houses have'nt yet been repaired be prepared for what could be endless months of noise:sad1:

we had insane storms last winter that resulted in LOTS of homes needing roof repairs (including ours) and i happened to be talking to the owner of the company that did ours recently. i remarked that it must be nice that things have slowed down a bit so they could catch their breath. he said they thought things were going to slow down but were very surpised to have gotten a late summer and now a fall rush again. seems unless people saw big evidence of storm damage to their roofs/ceilings they figured they did'nt have damage but come late summer when the weather was nice (we had almost no real spring or summer here this year) people were out in their yards and started noticing that their roofs were drooping so that generated a bunch of calls. with fall people are cleaning out their gutters and finding cracks and splits they did'nt see until they were on a ladder. he said what's realy concerning to him (and apparantly the insurance companies he works with) is what they perceive to be the number of homeowners who likley did incur serious damage, don't realize it and could be looking at full blown roof collapses if we get snow like we did last year:scared1:
