I am freaking out SOS

Okay guys, so the issue so nobody else has to go through this, was the number of trips booked before closing and the fact that the contracts changed completely and needed to be migrated.

DVC is working diligently behind the scenes, finished closing my old contracts and my points are starting to look normal again and older reservations I made have been reinstated!

As we all know I love dvc a little too much and got super excited to start my bookings 🤣🤣 i got a taste of vdh and now they created a monster 🤣🤣

But in all seriousness, im not the first person its happened too and now that weve been on this journey, if an overexcited noob direct starts to do what I did, we can now warn them what will happen, happy to be the test rat 🤣🤣

And here I am with my new VDH points just sitting there unused until my booking window opens....in July. 🤣
We are sitting here with newly acquired 150 more DLH June use year points to go with the 306 we had. Magical beginnings check arrived yesterday and plan is to bank all those 2026 points into the 2027 use year before any use. Don’t want to set @Girlstar30 into a frenzy but we are going into summer 2028 with max banked points for the summer Olympics, which is a large reason why we wanted more California points.

Just to further explain, you can book reservations ahead of closing but you need to have put enough money in escrow to cover your stays rack rate.

I squared that away so I dont lose my reservations that i want to keep before closing. Makes total sense.

I will say this is something they should have told me from the beginning to avoid this, they said that its buried deep in the contracts, but I read all my contracts and I did not read that. What I remember reading is that if you stay and dont pay then you are legally liable to pay them back at rack rate, not that you cant book unless money is already in escrow to cover bookings before closing and im pretty confident that is what is said.

I was not opposed to paying more upfront, i actually asked to from the beginning, but it was actually explained to me that dvc prefers monthly spread out payments to show consistency so thats what I did since they had no history of me paying dues consistently monthly since this is the first month I am responsible for paying dues to dvc on a monthly basis.

I followed them to the letter and there was a ton of miscommunication from different departments. But as I told them, I love my dvc and would never do anything to compromise that so let's do what we gotta do to get this show back on the road and now it is!

They were waiting for my guide to explain this to me but she is off pretty often, so QA gave me the explanation and the back office MS they worked with fixed it and reinstated. Whew.

Heard this one before? ‘I’ll gladly pay you Tuesday for DVC points use today’….They aren’t selling hamburgers here.

Yet they allowed me to do exactly that. And like I said the contract doesnt say you cant. So this needs to be explained to locals who can go as soon as the points hit. I signed a contract saying I would pay. Me being me i saw nothing wrong with that because I am going to pay. Now I know their actual policy and I can proceed accordingly

We will be using our new 160 VDH points for our June 2027 trip. Banking all of our 2026 points to combine with the 2027 points. We're also June UY people!

For our summer 2028 trip, we will be using all of our VGC points from 2027/2028 use years. Basically going to alternate every summer between two resorts.

I'm excited but it does suck to only go once a year. I'm jealous of people who get to go often!

We have 456 DLH June use year points and 200 June Grand Cali point contracts now. Awaiting ROFR on 160 June Grand Cali points. Will give us enough points for a 5-6 night Grand Cali trip every third Christmas week, and 6-7 night every third Summer and DLH in a 2 bedroom for a week 2/3 summers and some direct Sleep around points. May hit Oogie boogie occasionally as well. Plan for now is traveling onto Aulani every 18 months alternating Christmas trips and summer trips all in 2 bedrooms. California is so much better than Florida in the summer and Grand Californian/Aulani was just magical this last Christmas break that we pulled off in a 1 bedroom. The more points will allow 2 bedrooms for us to bring family or friends.

You mean you didn't read that 45 page contract in its entirety before clicking the docusign buttons? 😜
I actually did it doesnt say you cant book before closing or need enough money in escrow to cover entire trips, only that you would be liable to pay back at rack rate if you bounce 🤣🤣

I feel like i can argue that if I want, but I don't want to. Im kind of sadly glad they pumped the brakes or I would surely be out of points before closing 🤣🤣

Most buyers do not ask to spread payments out like those well versed here on the DIS do.

So, the way the contract is written probably assumes people are closing on the typical 30 days.

But, if they are going to allow more than that, then it definitely needs to be mentioned!!
