I have been seriously dieting for a little over a month. I lost 12 pounds.

Then, out of the blue, over the last 2 days I have GAINED 2 pounds. One pound yesterday and one pound today. I ate the same things I have been eating all diet, no cheating. I don't know what is wrong and it makes me want to give up.

I am going to stick it out for two more weeks, but it really scares me that if I am gaining weight on 1200 calories, what will happen if I ever accidentaly splurge!!!

Has this ever happened to any of you? Does anyone perhaps have an explanation??

(Oh and it is not 'that time of the month' either"

hang in there!

a gain of 2 pounds is NO BIG DEAL! Honestly! If you have been sticking to your diet ( or even cheating just a tad) that doesnt justify your gain.

It is likely water weight or just normal fluctuation.
This is why experts suggest you only weigh yourself once a week or less.

Its the overall loss you need to look at, not the daily stuff :)

Yes this happens to me quite often, my weight goes up and down all week but for me this is normal and I try not to get to me. I have found on a low calorie diet, 1200 calories, if I actually add more fat to my diet I can lose weight. If I keep my fat intake at around 20-25% of my total calories this really helps me. So don't get encouraged by those two pounds, it could be water weight gain, also I find if I do weight lifting, the next day my weight will be up. The best measurement of weight loss is just how your clothes fell and look on you. Hope I made some sense here..

uh 2lbs, yeah. all the time. water weight, that time of the month, muscle building, lots of reasons.....don't be so hard on yourself. :)

It's the one thing that drives me crazy about weighing daily. My official weigh in Sunday morning but if I weigh daily I will see a fluctuation where I can be 1 pound heavier one day and up to 3 pounds heavier the next but by my official weigh in day I always see some type of loss. I had one week where I was up 2 pounds on Saturday but by my official weigh in day I was not only down by that pound but had lost another! This past Sunday, I was down 2.5 pounds and this morning I'm down an additional pound. What the scale will say this coming Sunday is anybody's guess!

I keep trying to convince myself to stay off the scale but it's sooooo hard! :)

I'm having that problem where the scale isn't moving fast enough for me. I'm pretty sure that it's due to the fact that I'm building muscle but I hate the fact that I can't "see" the results!

That is weird...

I DID start a weight training program this week, I wonder if it is related?

This is exactly why I don't weigh myself everyday. I can gain as much as 12 pounds overnight, all fluid, no reason for it.

I doubt it was a true gain, probably it was that nasty Bloat Fairy. Hang in there, it will go away.

If you had 3 days to use the SEARCH methods and look at all my posts, you would see I have gone through this, as well as the restof us. lol.
It sounds as if you use the OL MIGHTY SCALE everyday and although, I still do, I take the results I see in stride!
Youhave to realize that you will no matter who you are gain and lose at weird rates and rapids! The scale is a strange place likeanother dimension! I am serious............dont take it seriously!!!

hang in there!'

We all get discouraged. I've lost a bit of weight, but I am not done. For the past several weeks, I have been on a roller coaster. Lots going on and I have not been diligent, enough.

But I contribute it to the weight loss process.

Think of it this way; It took me 15 years to put this weight on - if it takes me two years to take it off, I'm ahead by far!

Look at the bright side
