Today I called to pay off our up-coming trip in Sept-Oct.. and at the end of our conversation I was told that Pixi Dust just came for me. I said what do you mean and she asked if we were going to be at Epcot on our visit and I said several times. We Love Epcot. She told us to be at a certian country between 8:15 and 8:25 facing the Lagoon and to look to the left of us and we will see a CM with a clip board. She told me that I will need to show this person my drivers license and to give them this conformation number that she called me back with. She said my name will be on the the list for a special viewing of Illuminations? Has anyone else done this? If so how was it? Thank You.

Morocco? by the dock?

that is the area for preferred viewing for Platinum plan guests and maybe AAA?

I will ask for sure when I call, but I am also interested in hearing if this was just something special happening this year for random spreading of pixie dust , or is this on the upgraded plans? We had originally decided just to have dinner in Epcot and then have dessert and a drink at one the dining venues by the water to see illuminations. This is our first trip to Disney so we are a bit clueless on it all and how to set up a plan of action for our Honeymoon that we will be on. Thanks in advance :bride:

We did the prefer viewing one year and it was in Morocco I believe and it was awful. We would have been better staying in mexico where we had a table. It's not worth it to me.

We really couldn't see the globe or what was going on the other side of the lake. Most of the story setting of it happens over by mexico.

Ahh.. I see. So I guess the high fireworks were good from where you were though. How come you were in preferred, were you doing platinum or something?

The fireworks could be seen good. I think we did platinum I don't remember, it was a few years ago when it was on the point system at Disney instead of the DDP like it is now.

Would we get a good view at the Rose and Crown? This is how we are thinking of ending one of our honeymoon nights is by having a drink dessert and watching the show. I would rather get the best views as I can get. Rose Crown sounded good, but don't want to book there if it's not. Thanks in advance :bride:

There is a 'preferred' viewing area, which is excellent, right in front of Italy, to the right of the raised 'patio' by the water's edge. It is roped off, always a CM there. I have been there twice, as part of an Epcot tour taken earlier in the day. Names are on the CM's list. Enjoy.

Dan,
What tour is it? I would be very interested if it includes illuminations view.
Thanks

We just did this, and we got it with our Premium Package, and Mandy is right about the view...you sort of get to see the Globe, but not really all that well since there is an island with trees by the viewing area. You of course get a good view of the fireworks. Now, the special viewing area at the MK for Wishes was truly bad. Trees and Umbrellas and on top of everything it was an area that is normally reserved for smoking...what was Disney thinking when they choose this as a special viewing spot? You miss the castle and most of the fireworks are blocked by either trees or umbrellas from the tables. It was over by the Plaza Restaurant, and if they ever offer you this special seating, say "No, thanks" and take your chances in the crowd.

PS We finally did get to see Wishes from the California Grill which was incredible, but I still want to see it from the MK so I can see the castle and everything.

Hi! I too, have been offered this special viewing by a Disney representative. According to the paperwork they sent me, I am to be by Italy15 minutes prior to the viewing. The funny thing is that the paperwork originally mentioned to go to Morrocco, but that was crossed out and Italy was written in. I think the viewing from Italy should be good? Anyone know for sure? We plan on staying for EMH that evening so we aren't too concerned about bolting to the buses!!! Thanks!

Hi!

The viewing area for tour participants is great; and if you are lucky enough to get a table on the water at Rose and Crown, that is also super. One warning, though. Check out the direction of any breeze there might be - if it is blowing toward Rose and Crown, you may be sitting in a cloud of smoke - happened to us! 118 days until our 35th trip to WDW! :Pinkbounc

Heh, aren't these the same views people get on those "special" illuminations cruises too? I'd hate spending all that money for such a poor view but hey, whatever floats yer boat. Pun intended. :p

We did the Illuminations Cruise last December, and it was the best view we have ever had...especially of the globe. You could really see all the images on it. I have heard that sometimes the cruise is bad if the smoke is blowing in that direction, but if it is smoke-free, it is a great view.

For a previous poster, Rose and Crown is also great if you are on the balcony. You will have to get there early though. A lot of people go for dinner and stay for the show. They don't make people leave.

Thanks for your review. I've heard otherwise so was going with that!
I can imagine the smoke blowing in would be awful and you wouldn't be able to get away from it like you can on dry land. Glad you enjoyed your cruise. :teeth:

I too was gonna mention Rose and Crown area but I see you beat me to it. LOL We've seen the area roped off "special" before and we've seen it open for public use, not sure if there's a schedule or what.

We did enjoy our cruise. However, we will never book it in December again. It was FREEZING!

Chatty, I hope you have a great time. I love Illuminations.
