Hi all, I havent been around in about a week! actually havent even been on line in a week!
I began working again 5 days a week a total of approx. 32-38 hours weekly. FOr those of you who may not know, I am a waitress.
I work in a very busy restaurant......ironically, my problem is not having access to the food, I have adjusted to my way of eating and I am comfortable with it! My boss (owner and chef) also knows that I am on low carb so he is helpful when its time to find us (employees) the problem is, I am so busy now with work that I just have not gotten on the treadmill in about 2 weeks! I continue tot ell myself that all the fast paced walking at work is exercise enough!~

To be quite honest, I am not sure if this is even a excuse, I am quick to respond to threads and say just get back on it! dont think about it and do it.........but thruth is, I have just been thinking about it lately and not doing!
I am definitely tired alot more now working.

I mostl;y work nights, but my days are filled with kids being home from school now!

As I write this, I really have no good excuse.........
anyone ever get this way if so what have you done to change things.

Hi Renee!

I'm sorry you are so frustrated and really sorry that you are so tired from working hard. I know waitressing can be a thankless and grueling physical job.

I felt the same way you do about exercise before I found something that was "it" for me. I tried walking, joining a gym, Tabeo and various other exercise videos but it wasn't until I found the FIRM that exercise truly became something I not only did because I had to but because I actually want to do it and look forward to doing it every morning. I make it a priority, the same as I do with my eating plan. I have actually not done some things in a day that needed to get done as opposed to skipping my work out. Sounds obsessive? Maybe it is but I think once you find the program that excites you, you will be motivated to do it no matter what else is going on in your day.

I also make exercise the first thing I do when I get up in the morning. That way I have no excuses that I couldn't get it done later on in the day.

I guess what I am saying is that maybe the treddie is not exciting enough for you and you need to find something that will get you excited about exercising!

Renee,
Everything Zera said. The only other thing I would add is that you need to somehow convince yourself that whatever form of exercise you choose, make it something special for you and just you. Make it a reward in itself. I struggled with exercise as a must do, but now, I feel like I'm cheating myself if I don't do it. I love the way I feel afterward, both physically and mentally and I am really loving the way I'm looking lately! ::yes:: (DH does too!:teeth: He says no different than the way he looked at me before, only now he can't keep his hand off me. Oh well, I guess there are worse problems to have. )
I'm sure your work is great exercise, and as long as you aren't so exhausted afterward that you begin eating garbage because you just can't take the time or energy to eat healthy, I'll bet you will be fine. Wear a pedometer to work if you can, and see how much you are actually doing. You may not feel so guilty after all! :D

Keep the Faith!

You might just be struggling with making such a big change by returning to work and having the kids home from school. We all go through our times when we don't want to move. Remember this is just temporary. But finding some way to make exercise special for you will help a lot. Sometimes moms just can not find time to exercise alone, if that is where you are right now, find something that you can do with the kids, even if it is a family walk around the park. There is no better gift for your kids than a fit mom!

Renee:

It sounds like you need time just for you! You need to carve out 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes or an hour that is just time for you to do what you want to do.You might use that time to exercise or take a bubble bath or read a chapter out of a book.

Right now your time has been hijacked by your job and your children home from school for the summer. You've overwhelmed by the change and it's thrown you off of your schedule.

Take a few minutes and set some guidelines for the kids for the summer. Set up 20 minute intervals where they have to read by themselves or do an easy set of chores that will free you up to do something for yourself. Plan for family exercise - a walk to a park or a trip to a pool. Cool off at an ice rink. Any activity that you can participate in together will help them be active and healthy as well.

Good suggestions above. Put yourself first! You need to do this in order to do all your other jobs. There are 24 hours in a day, surely you can find 20 minutes somewhere to walk, do the treadmill, throw in a video, play ball with the kids, put on a CD and dance around the house...always realize that you need to care for yourself first, then you will have more energy to face everything life throws at you.

Treat yourself: Buy a new exercise video, or workout clothes, or sneakers or a pedometer...along with some bubble bath, new summery nail polish and some cute flip flops!:)

I know you'll be back on track soon!
