Tomorrow, I return to work, after being out of work for over 1 year. The job is a bit diff from my previous work as a computer tech, but work I can easily do...

I have been fretting about it since Thursday, and now that it is Sunday..I think I am about to lose my mind....anyone got any advice how to cool my nerves?

UPDATE!!! I made it through fine...had some issues sleeping last night, but otherwise, did fine...TONS to learn..and go to see parts of the airport most don't ever see...VERY cool

A couple glasses of wine :lmao:. Just keep thinking about the paycheck and that should help.

Try to do something to get your mind off of it. Maybe go to the movies or out to dinner. You're going to do great, so keep telling yourself that.:goodvibes:hug:

I switched jobs 2 years ago after being at my last job for a decade. I was a total wreck before my first day! It takes about 6 months to a year to feel "normal" at a job (not a happy statistic, but one I've heard several times and have found to be true).

Try to think of all of the possibilities of starting a new position. You get to meet a lot of people (most will be great even if some are totally crazy) and you get to learn a lot of new skills. You can explore new opportunities in a new organization. LOTS of new doors are opening for you! So try and turn your nervousness into excitement (it worked for me!). :thumbsup2

I start a new job tomorrow too!! I've only been out of work for 2 months but I'm going back to work as a Paralegal after being out of that line of work for 4 years :scared1: (I was a stay at home mom for 2 years and then did office work for my church for 2 to keep something on my resume).

I'm a bit nervous that I won't be able to "keep up" but I have to remember that every job as a learning curve and that I pick things up fast and I'll be fine.

Good luck tomorrow!!

Relax - It will be great!

I started a new job this year after being away for 9 years:eek:
to raise my kids.

I thought people would question everything I did, but they have been extremely supportive!

I'm glad your first day went well!! Hope that continues! BTW, I'm jealous of your Pug tag. :goodvibes
