Ok.. I know we've gone over this... but I think I'm now more confused than ever. :) We leave in 3 days... and we are going I-95. Am I making a mistake? Can you tell me your experiences with both?

Thanks

Sandie

We have gone I-75 several times, and I-79 to I-77 to I-95 a couple of times. We prefer the I-79, I-77 route because it is much more scenic. There are fewer hotels than on I-75. The mountains are higher, so you are more likely to run into fog. But, since winter is over, I would definitely take this route over I-75. I live a short distance from Fort Erie. My sisters all live in the London area, and they always take I-75.

We leave Thursday afternoon, whahoo!:bounce::bounce: and have just decided to go down the middle I79, I77, I95 also. Have driven this way before but friends who are going with us have not. Planning to do a side trip along part of the Blue ridge parkway. Have a good trip, all the best.

Thanks. I couldn't remember which one was more scenic. Also.. we haven't booked a hotel. Should we have? We wanted to stay in Savannah Georgia on Friday night.

Hi Sandie,

It is Allison (in alma) anyway just wanted to let you know we drove 1-95 in March to SC and had a great trip. I like it much better then 75 seems to have less truck traffic. Just be warned that when we went through the Pennsylvania turnpike was under construction, we went throuhg on the weekend so didn't effect us but might be something you want to consider going down during the week.

Also you should know to get down to historical Savannah you will need to drive probably 40 min. off the interstate. There are some nice hotels right off the interstate. We lived at the Days Inn for 2 months while DH was training in the Cracker Barrell store. Let me know if you need anymore info.

Sandie,

If you don't mind some advice from a Yank (that lives a 1.5 Km from I-95) I would suggest you stay clear of 95 until you get past Washington, DC (which is just 33 Km n. of me). It might save you a wee bit of time.

shooter... why do you say that?

Allison!! Hey! Nice to *see* you. I didn't realize that about Savannah. Good to know. Yikes. I assumed it would be about 15 minutes off the Interstate. That's what the lady at CAA said. <sheesh>

Hi Sandie,

I would say 15 min would get you to the city limits but then as I said you still have to go through the whole town to get to the Historic area (which is really pretty and well worth the detour especially at this time of year.) let me know if you need any help.

Hi Shooter: I don't think they hook onto I95 until charleston south carolina, as they go by way of erie penn, virginias, to charlotte, n.c. columbia, s.c. then over to I 95. But good advice for others.

Allison from alma? Is that the same little town with marj's or marg's famous restaurant. On the way to sauble beach?

We leave friday also not til 3 p.m. and will drive to ll.00 I have a hotel booked just before beckley w.v. I sure hope there is no fog.

It sure is, we live right down the block. We just love their pies, maybe I should walk down and get one for dinner tonight.

Have a great trip!! 65 days till we will be heading out.

Thanks Allison: I have driven by there many many times on our way to port elgin. But never stopped as we travel with budgies, and two dogs. I guess it would be good for a lunch during the week. Maybe one day if it is just hubby and I, we can stop and try the pie. Next time passing by we will honk. lol
