I-4 Help

I know I4 has been a mess for a while. We visited in May and it was just a mess, a friend visited a week after I did and 4 was closed at night (or at least the night she was on it). So my question is, how big of a mess is it now. We are arriving 9/15, we will probably hit I4 about 9 AM from 95. That is a Sunday. Is there work going on on a Sunday? Should I stick with I4 or try an alternate route. Any advice on an alternate route? I don't mind toll roads. I would rather pay a few bucks than sit in traffic.

Also any advice on getting back to 95 from Disney would be great. We've taken the toll roads before because of normal Orlando traffic but we are always unsure what route to take and what's the best place to exit.

You can avoid I-4 by staying on 95 to the Port Canaveral area and take SR 528 (Beachline) west to the airport area then 417 to WDW thereby avoiding I-4 entirely. These are toll roads but cash is accepted and a roll of quarts will get you thru the exact change lanes. While a few more miles the time difference is MINIMAL.

if 95 to the beachline seems to out of your way

take I-4 and change to 417 (toll) at Sanford and take this all the way to WDW ... again you'll by-pass the I-4 'ultimate' area.

you probably won't have a problem on I-4 on a Sunday but even less chance on either of these alternates. Even without active work there are lane closures and closed exits and lane jogs for temp rerouting and I try to avoid entirely!!
