I-4 Construction Update

Big changes. Construction has progressed to the point that a portion of I-4 eastbound (toward I-95) will close nightly for a while. Traffic will exit, and run on a parallel street for about 6 blocks in downtown Orlando before re-entering the highway.

I urge everyone to watch traffic when you are traveling using Google Maps or Waze or your own GPS with traffic.

Use FL417 as a bypass - it costs a few dollars but it's hassle free!

Reminder: I-4 at night is rough! Here's the latest. Even in daytime, check your traffic enabled GPS or use Waze or google maps with traffic enabled to look aehad. Use FL417 instead if you want a predictable ride.


Rolling roadblocks on westbound Interstate 4 (I-4) from Maitland to downtown Orlando are scheduled between 12 a.m. to 5 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, and Friday, September 9. Rolling roadblocks will continue on Saturday, September 10, if needed.

The westbound I-4 rolling roadblocks will begin north of Maitland Boulevard (State Road 414). The rolling roadblock and temporary closures of westbound I-4 entrance ramps create a 30-minute window for crews to remove girders extending over I-4 from the old westbound State Road 408 entrance ramp from Orange Avenue/Lucerne Circle. Two or three rolling roadblocks are scheduled to occur each night.

As the rolling roadblock passes each interchange, Florida Highway Patrol troopers will reopen its entrance ramp. In total, 10 westbound I-4 entrance ramps between Maitland Boulevard and South Street will be temporarily closed during the rolling roadblocks. The westbound I-4 entrance ramp from South Street will be closed during the duration of each night’s rolling roadblock operations from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. For a map of on-ramp closures, visithttp://fdot.tips/WBI4slowroll.
