Hypothetically yes.

It would be difficult for a CM in the loading area to get your FP back from the CM at the front of the line.

But if a ride breaks down when you just loaded, it's likely everyone would get a FP to make up for the inconvinience.

If the ride was going to be down for a while, I'd probably be issue a re-admittance ticket (like a fastpass).

It has never happened to us that way with either POTC or IJ, it really was not a big deal to us.

It happened to us on BTR but we were just asked to get out as they didn't know when it woiuld re-start for the day - not if we needed another FP. Although I suppose I could have asked?? I was just a litlle stunned :lol

They were not rude and POTC is pretty cool with the lights on and great for pictures. Wife was on Space when the ride was at the top and sideways and she said it scared the H**l out of her when they were getting her off...sorry.

When I was at DL in Dec we were in line for Nemo and next to board, but I guess there was a problem with the sub so they pulled everyone from that sub's queue and moved us off to the side. They then apologized for the inconvenience and gave us a hand written fastpass that they said was good for any ride other than TSMM. Then the moved us to the front of the line and they put is on the next available sub.

It was kind of nice since we go to ride Nemo and also got a FP that we were able to use on Soarin',

We have never gotten our FPs back. One trip Space Mountain broke down numerous times while while we were almost on. They closed the ride and people asked for their FPs back and were told they couldn't do that and to go to City Hall if they wanted to complain. If you are on a car and have to get off, but the ride is still going or is easily fixed, they will just put you on the next one. We have also been able to go again without getting off if the ride broke while we were on it but was fixed quickly.

It all depends WHY you are getting off. Is is because you have to go pee? Then that is not Disney's fault and you will not likely get your FP back. In SOME cases you will get a pass good for any ride, when a ride goes down, but that is again not gaurenteed. Unfortunetly, you are not guarenteed that any ride will be operational, so if one breaks down when you are ON the ride or in line, while it is disapointing, it is beyond Disney's control. If they gave passes for each minor break-down, everyone would have the special pass.

We got a "FP good for any ride" last Nov. when we were almost on Space *had used a FP* and it went down. We used the special FP for Peter Pan

We were on IJ a couple of years ago when it went down. We were at the end (where Indy is hanging from the rope before the boulder comes down) but they still gave our entire car fastpasses without anyone even having to ask.

Alright let me give you the low down on rides! I've lost a FP before said I lost my FP what can you all do? They just let me on. I've been through the take you off rides.. they have given me an fp. Basically as long as you look sincere (I never try to scam) the CM's will help you. I've even had someone join us and said we kind of wanted to all ride together. We 2 have a FP and he doesn't anyway we can go? They let us in. Moral of the story.. from my experience... disney has your back.

Last trip we were on Alice and it broke down in the middle. We walked out (through the maintenance room!) and the lead on the attraction gave us her name and said come back anytime and go through the exit and tell the CM her name and that you were on the ride when it broke down.

We came back about an hour later and went through the exit and followed instructions. We were let on, no problem. The lead was even there as we completed the ride and cheered us for making it through!

Mechanical issues only....if I forgot to go to the washroom before I got on IJA,I would have bigger problems than getting my FP back
