Hypothetical AKL Concierge Question

Wish it wasn't hypothetical and that I was asking this because I was going to be staying at AKL soon, but...

All of this AKL talk and the Sunrise Safari got me thinking. What if you were staying at the AKL for 5 days and out of those 5 days for 2 days you planned to stay at concierge level. Would you be eligible for the Sunrise Safari on a day that you were not staying in concierge? I understand that is only available on certain days. What if those days were not the days you were staying on the conceirge level?

Just food for thought.

I would do the sunrise safari on the days I was actually staying at AKL Concierge.

I don't think they would let you do it if you were in a regular room, even if you had just left or were going to be arriving in concierge. How would you even get to the concierge lounge to have them scan your park ticket?

I have heard of many people staying in concierge just for a night or two to take advantage of the SS. I wouldn't hesitate to do this. We are doing AKL Concierge in Nov. and are going to stay in Conc all nights just because we don't want to move.

Is that what you want to do? If it is, book the Conc. for the day or two that you want the SS and then move in to another room.

I think the SS is offered on Tuesdays and Saturdays? I'm not sure.

You may find it harder than you think to leave AKL Conc. I'm sure you can tell from some of the other threads on these boards that AKL is pretty great.

Then you can't go. You can't even access the lounge area without a keycard (your room key) for the elevator.

Hi - I met people on our sunrise safari that only stayed concierge that night before to qualify (ie) 6 nights regualr room/1 night concierge to go on the next mornings safari...

I suppose it can be done if it's what you want.

Then I don't think you could go so make sure you pick your concierge stay around SS schedule. The concierge would help you with that.

Yes that is correct - I believe it was Tues & Saturday... you would have to stay either Monday night (for Tues Safari) or Friday night (for Sat's safari)

Best to double check that the safari days have not changed since last summer when we went.

We were told by the concierge that a lot of people would upgrade for one night for the Safari, and that people who were staying multiple nights were being shut out because of it. They said that they were looking into the possibility of making multiple night stays a requirement, or putting single night guests on a wait list until the day before the safari...in other words you would take a chance of paying for the one night upgrade and not getting on the safari.

So far they haven't done this, but it could happen.

Hi Anne... that is an interesting comment.

I think I would have been annoyed if I did not get on the SS when I was staying for 9 nights in concierge and others who were there just for one night did.

Let us know if you hear anything.
