Has anyone ever experienced Hyperemesis?

Yes, with my first pregnancy. I lost 17 pds, and was extremely ill..I was hospitalized, nearly lost the pregnancy.

It really was an awful time..I ended up gaining 2 pds in the entire pregnancy, and it was not something I would ever repeat.

I took Zofran. Very expensive per pill, but I thankfully had set aside enough in the health care flexible spending to cover that year.

Oh, and kiddo and hubby have it for peanut allergies.

Yes, I was very afraid. From the get go, it was a different pregnancy. I vowed I would never have another baby, for more than that reason. It was symptom free, thank GOd, but she will be 8 next week, and boy is she a handful.

Yes, with both of my pregnancies. With my first I had to go to the hospital to get re-hydrated (never admitted) several times. I was throwing up a good 15 to 25 times a day and unable to eat or drink anything except bread and rootbeer (which most of the time didn't stay down). All the could give me was Phenergan suppositories, which didn't really help. It lasted until my seventh month.

My second started out the same way, but I was prescribed Zofran. Very very expensive (I think I figured out that if I took as much as I could have taken it would have cost about $400 a week!), but luckily I only had to pay $40 about every two weeks through my insurance. It was a wonder drug for me. I still felt nauseated, but I wasn't throwing up anymore.

Why do they use Zofran for peanut allergies?
