update: We took the hydro-flask out of the car a minute ago. It was in my car in my driveway for 24 hours in the sun and overnight. It had 2 ice cubes left and the water was still freezing cold. I guess I'm going to get some sport tops! Awesome!

Went to the welcome center yesterday afternoon and had a lovely chat with Teresa and Rob. Also bought a hydro flask. I am skeptical of anything that is so highly praised but I wanted to try it out.

I filled it to the top with ice and water at 11 am today. It sat on my counter for an hour next to a refillable mug filled with the same ice and water. The mug was half melted and then i opened the hydro flask and the ice was still at the top

. At noon I put it in my car and drove to vero beach. The ice melted down about an inch in an hour when left in the car in the hit Florida sun. When I got home the refillable mug was totally melted and warm. The hydro flask was still over half frozen ice and water.

I left it in the car all day and at 7:30 we opened it again. The ice was down about a half inch from where it was at noon and I was shocked.

It is still over half filled with ice now and I am a believer. I will check again in the morning to see how it is. I can see buying a few more to hold ice while I m working so I can have cold drinks all day.

Only 1 problem. I don't like drinking out of metal. There is no taste in the water I just don't like the initial taste do I will use some long straws or pour it into a cup.

Awesome product. The welcome center was nice too!

Not to your extent, but I have had fun seeing how long the ice lasts in mine as well.

As far as the taste of the metal, I too did not like it to my lips drinking straight from the flask but I bought a sport top and it's much better!!

Enjoy your Hydro Flask...I will be watching for a sale to buy myself another one as well!!

Definitely try a sport top! I left my hydroflask in the car one day and burned my lip on the metal. Luckily, there was still a ton of ice in there and it cooled my burn quickly!

1. Does the sports cap fit on the 40oz wide mouth flask?

2. Can you fill the hydroflask part way and freeze it and then add water or will freezing the flask wreck it?

Sports caps do not work on the 40 oz version, but they recently released a flip cap. I may order some. I really like the wide mouth hydro flasks as every day drinking cups. I think the flip cap will make the 64 oz one more usable.

No need to do the half freeze routine.

The liquid will stay whatever temperature it starts at. Tap water, add 4-6 ice cubes. Ice cubes may melt if tap water is not really cold, this will give you nicely chilled water. Several hours later, you water will still be nice and cold. If your tap water was really cold, and you don't open your bottle, you may still have ice cubes ten hours later!

But, on a hot day, you should be emptying that bottle and refilling it every hour or so.

When he comes home, he goes on and on about how cold his water was...as if it was the very first time he's ever used it (he's had them since Christmas). As we were planning our trip to Disney in January, he asked, "We're gonna take our hydroflasks, right?" (He'll forget to pack socks before he forgets his precious red hydroflask!) :)

I just got mine in the mail last night. 24oz. with an extra sport cap from EBay for $29.99 with free shipping, I love it. I am ready for next month trip to POR for 6d/5n. YEY!
