Hi,
We're thinking of getting a Hybrid Trailer and was wondering if anyone has one and how they like it? What kind of vehicle do you have to pull it?
Thanks!

We have a Jayco Kiwi 21c (see picture below) which we have owned for the past 5 years. We really like it. We tow with a Ford F150 Super Cab with a 5.4 liter 8.

We love our hybrid, We pull it behind our Durango. Here it is with only one side open.

We have a 2005 KZ Coyote 23ct. We love it! We have pulled it with a Chev Suburban and now a Toyota 4Runner.
We chose this hybrid for several reasons:
-we didn't have to get a new tow vehicle
-it has 3 beds
-the sleeping area doesn't use up floor space
-we still have 2 beds for short sleeps on the go (table and couch fold down)
-great floorplan for a lightweight trailer.

We have a 2002 Bantam Trail-light 22S. I absolutely love it for several reasons. I still feel like we are camping in a tent becaues of the tent ends, but have my shower, bathroom, a/c, microwave and full size fridge and a slide out for the kitchen area and couch. I a very happy with it. However my dh wants to get rid of it and has almost since we bought it. He doesnt want to have to set it up and feels it takes almost as much time as it does with a pop up. He wants to just park it and be set up. We also leave it for two months at our local campground and it is really a pain closing the ends up. I do think we will be getting a new full size trailer in the next year. I just want to wait till both of our vehicles are paid off. Seems we bought a new car and cargo van in the same year. We tow it with dh's cargo van that he uses for his business. Has one window on side and we put in a seat.

That is the only thing about hybrids it's still alot of work to set up, that's why we got rid of our pop-up by the time we had it set up in the campground we were a tired mess, I alway loved to camp in the pop-up we just got to old and out of shape to set it up. I love the new hybrids they have out, just us setting it up would become a side show. Plus some of the hybrids are as much as my tt cost.

I gotta disagree about the difficulty setting up. Outside of dropping the bunk ends, the set up is identical to a regular TT. And setting up the ends only takes me about 5 minutes. We upgraded from a pop up because I was getting exhausted setting the thing up, and setting up my hybrid is a piece of cake compared to a pop up.

I beleive what you say , I have never owned a hybrid, so I wouldn't have a clue to the set up. We did look at a hybrid ( jay feather ) over the weekend, they can be high dollar, but they do have everything my tt has.

It can take a bit longer to set up a hybrid. Other than our 3 beds, many of the other things would be the same for many things you tow (awning, jacks, hook ups etc.) Other than setting up and making the beds, some of the other things that keep me busy during set up are my own doing (secured items for travel, hanging up pictures and hat rack, getting out other misc items). My inlaws go south in their 5th wheel each winter, and I'm afraid we have picked up some of their habits for making the house on wheels a home (flags, pictures on the walls, flowers etc etc ). I don't bother getting all this out for a weekend, but I do for longer trips. We have talked about upgrading to a regular trailer in a few years to get rid of the bed set up, however unless we are willing to get a lot bigger, we sacrifice so much floor space for beds. I like our floor plan now as each kid has their own space and bed which feels separate given that their beds go out opposite sides. If we go to a bunkhouse type design the kids will be sharing a "bedroom" which is fine while they are young, but may become an issue when they are older. As well, we have a double bed for each child, so there is room to bring cousins or friends.

Take your time looking around and you will surely find a size and layout that will suit your needs!
