Got this hotel for $30/night through Priceline! Looks like a great hotel and it is just 1/4 mile from Universal Studios. Looks like most people who bid on 3* in the Orlando-Universal,Sea World zone are getting this hotel. We are going July 7-12.:)

We got 2 rooms here for late August on Priceline too at $30/nt. We're thrilled. We stayed here years ago when it was an Amerisuites and had a blast and can't wait to see it since the Hyatt refurb. We stayed at a Hyatt Place in Nashville, TN and it was GORGEOUS! Of course the free continental breakfast and wifi are added bonuses!

I also read on tripadvisor where once you cross the street, there is a path to Universal. I think we may try that and then catch the shuttle back to the hotel. Seems like they don't leave early enough in the morning. I'd love to save the $12/day parking.

I am psyched about staying at Hyatt Place, especially for such a low rate! If only I could find that great a rate in DC, I would be happy.

We've walked there a few times and it's about a 15-20 minute walk for us with a stroller and kidlets in tow. There is a traffic light on Sand Lake Road and that's really the only major intersection. It's actually a pleasant walk filled with lots of greenery and flowers.

We're still trying to decide whether or not to get APs for US/IOA. If we do we'll get one Preferred Pass that includes parking and Power Passes for the rest of us. If we don't we'll probably be walking there too.

I actually won two tickets(2 different contests), so passes aren't an issue for us. Now we just have to budget for gas and food.

I wanted the Hyatt by Universal for us (using Priceline) but I didn't want to jeopardize the fact that we might have gotten the Wyndham Resort (read the nasty reviews on TripAdvisor) I settled for the Doubletree Castle by using "mycokerewards" points for $50 off and the travel website also gave me a couple free nights for "prepaying".... Worried that it will be good (Hope it is worth it!)

The Wyndham has been upgraded to a 3.5* by Priceline so there is little risk that you'll get stuck with the Wyndham when bidding 3* unless Priceline upgrades you which they don't usually do at $30.

Wow,$30 a night,I've gotten it a few times on Hotwire for like $43 and I thought that was a great price. The rooms are great and Hyatt did a great job refurbishing the place,my only negative comment is that the breakfast area is way too small, many days people would be all over the lobby with their breakfast.

I stayed at the one down the street (Convention Center) through priceline and it was very nice. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay.

I stayed at the Hyatt Place Universal for a little over three weeks back in September/October. This was of course due to work but I love the Hyatt Place and have stayed at many across the country. This one has a little bit of different room configuration then others. Our room was smaller then others in the hotel, which the front desk of course tried to tell me no but we knew other wise since we could see in to other rooms when housekeeping was cleaning. The elevator is slow, we usually took the stairs. There is a Cracker Barrell behind the hotel and a TGIF in front along with an I-Drive trolley stop. The morning continental breakfast has good selections and they do offer other dinning options that you can order. Along with quick take-away subs, salads and drinks.

Stayed here last June it is a clean nice hotel we enjoyed the continental breakfast but DH and DS got bored with the same old toast, bagel and fruit every morn. Watch your credit cards they charged me three times for incidentals per day, had to fight to get the money back, I had them cut off the phone and pay per view channels that I never even used. Took me over a wk to get all the money back. Attitude of the staff at the front desk wasnt great, DS7 fell and scraped his knee and lady behind counter didnt want to get a bandaid for him but gentelman next to her did, then pool was out of towels asked the same lady for towels she just replied there was none and walked off. We would go back tho, like I said it was very clean and spacious

hi all,

i'm bumping this thread to ask whether this hotel is too far from the disney parks? maps say it's a 20-25 minute drive. i wouldn't mind, but we have a 4yo and a 22month old. Thanks!

I believe it is a about 7-10 miles from the Disney parks, but with traffic on I-4, that could take 20-25 minutes. Would not be convenient for going back for a nap, but might work if you plan on staying all day at the parks. I would recommend it more for Universal or Sea World.
