I would like to know if anyone has stayed at the Hyatt Grand Cypress. If so how are the rooms and how far of a drive is it to Disney and Universal? Are there any grocery stores near there. Any answers would help. Thanks alot:p

We just got back from there and we loved it. The rooms are large and the bathroom is huge. They charge you a resort fee of $13 dollars a night but that includes all the usual amenities plus free bike and boat rentals. We really enjoyed riding bikes around the property and then diving into the incredible pool. The best part was that the pool and spas are open 24 hours a day so you can enjoy them after a day in the parks. They do close the two slides at 7pm though, but the pool itself is soooo nice. There is a Gooding's supermarket not very far form the hotel at the Crossroads shopping center. We got a rate of $112 a night from Priceline.

Wow! That's awesome. We are staying there for 2 nights in Feb. before heading off to Vero Beach. We got a good rate (gov't) but not as good as that! After reading a few reviews, we decided to go for the pool view as I understand you have a view of Disney and fireworks, etc. What kind of view did you have? Any idea if the pools will still be open 24/7 in Feb.? Did you eat at any of the on-site restaurants?

NLK--Sorry for hijacking your thread. I was so excited to see a post about this hotel. When are you staying there?

No problem. We are staying there at the end of Oct. for a conference my DH will be attending. We are thinking of staying longer at the Grand Cypress instead of changing hotels and staying at one of the Universal hotels. I've looked on tripadviser and some people complain about the pools not being heated. Did that bother anyone? Thanks for the help;)

Ever since we saw this resort on Great Hotels, dh I have been dying to stay here. One day, when we're ready for a "non Disney" trip.....

I'd love to hear more feedback from those who have stayed. Are there any shuttles to the parks, if so, how frequently do they run and how are they?

There is a shuttle to the parks but I think it only goes a couple of times a day.

The hotel is just round the corner from DTD so it is about 10 mins from the parks. About 15 mins from Us using I4.

Cant help with the temp of the pools as we only ever go in June - August.

Pool view gives you a view of all the fireworks. Lake view gives a view of MK. There are also large windows on each floor just after the lifts soyou can see the displays from there if needed.

Hemingways is a very nice restaurant but expensive ( as are all the food outlets in the resort)

We stayed here in May and loved it. The non-heated pool was a little cool and probably not comfortable in Feb. but I would think Oct would be fine. We didn't use the shuttles to the parks but they were plentiful if you needed to go around the resort. If you golf, this course is one not to miss. I believe they will shuttle you to Universal. If you drive, take the back way.I think the road is the Palm Parkway. It avoids going on I4 and it only takes 15-20 minutes. The resort itself is less than 5 minutes to DTD.

This Hotel is wonderful I stayed here in April for a conference then again in May for vacation! I will also be there again the week of Oct. 24 for a conference. They have one pool that is heated and the others are not. The hotel staff is wonderful. i highly recommend this hotel! When I went in May I had a view of the fireworks from Plesure Island, MK & Epcot.

Thanks for all the help. It sounds like it's going to be a nice hotel to be at. I would love to see it on Great Hotels I wonder if they will replay it. Hey, luvgoofy, that must be the same conference my DH is going to attend. Maybe will see you around. :p

Wow! I am so excited to stay here. Thanks for all the info. I'm glad I opted (DH doesn't know yet;) ) to pay more $ for the pool view. It sounds like it'll be worth it. Maybe I'll tell him about the golf course--that'll lessen the blow.:smooth:

I, too, would love to see it on Great Hotels. NLK--if I hear of it being on there, I'll let you know.

Hi-- Did a little research and just wanted to give you a heads up that HRGC will be on the Travel Channel on August 10th at 11 a.m.! It'll be coupled with the Don Cesare (which we had a drink at one time;) ) in St. Petersburg.

Thanks for the news. It will be great to see it on Great Hotels first. Hope everyone has a great trip.:p
