What happens with our luggage?
We are flying in the night before and haven't done that before. We always flew in the day of the cruise. Any and all suggestions are needed. Thanks!

We always stay at the Hyatt, whether we use air from the cruise line or not. Either way, you will have to claim your luggage. Or, I'm told that the bell service at the Hyatt will claim it for you, but I've never done this.

If you've booked transfers with DCL, don't put the cruise line's tags on your luggage until the morning of the cruise. When you check in at the Hyatt, identify yourself as a DCL passenger. They will give you an envelope with information about the transfers. Basically, what will happen is that on the morning of the cruise, you leave your bags, with cruise line tags, in the hallway outside your room at the Hyatt. The hotel and/or DCL will collect them and transfer them to the ship. The information they give you will note the time when you can check in for the buses in the Hyatt lobby. I think it's usually around 9:00am, but has varied. When you check in, they'll assign you to a bus. At that point, it's a bit of a wait until they call your bus. The first one is usually at around 10:00. A DCL rep will take you to the bus and you're on your way. You luggage will show up in your room sometime during the afternoon. About half the time, ours is there when we first arrive at the room after lunch.

i believe u put tags on your luggage and they take it for u bye a certain time........ peter

Oh, also a word of (unsolicited) advice: Avoid the breakfast buffet at the Hyatt. It's very overpriced and very mediocre, IMHO. There are plenty of places in the terminal where you can grab a quick breakfast before checking in for the buses. My favorite is the bagel place. I usually go for a light breakfast, the better to load up on shrimp at the lunch buffet on board.

i think you have to have it in the hall no later than 8:30 a.m. Personally, i felt much better taking it to the lobby and checking on the bus there, than walking away leaving it in the hallway...

Thank you, I know I can always count on my disfriends to have the answers. Merry Christmas to all and to all a Good Cruise!

On our last DCL cruise, March '02, almost our entire floor was cruisers. It looked like the last night of the cruise with all the luggage in the halls! Happy cruising Kathy
