On the arrival back day from our Fantasy Cruise, we're spending that night at the Hyatt Airport. We made reservations at California Grill that evening.

Whats the best, most convenient way to get to CG and then back to the hotel after dinner??

You could rent a car for the day. Why not rent a car at the port, drive to the Hyatt, drive to CA Grill then drive back to MCO and return the car. Easiest option. Might be the cheapest.

You don't want to drive. Either taxi or book a car service. Price should be similar.

Want to save a few dollars. Only two people. You could take Mears shared shuttle. Walk over to the Mears desk closest to the DME desk. Buy a R/T ticket. DME drivers can't sell tickets (accept cash). I don't know if they can accept a Mears voucher.

Rent a car. A taxi would be about $110 round trip. Or stay @ the Contemporary or Wilderness Lodge, use DME, and apply the rental car/taxi/town car fee to the reservation!

Sadly--won't have a car. Using DCL bus to get to and from the Cruise terminal.

And this is for A Saturday evening--leaving to fly home early next day (Sunday)

Maybe I should just NOT use the DCL bus when we arrive back at the port? Rent a car AT the port (can you do that and return it at MCO??)

I just dont want this to be more complicated than it needs to be--but since we are cruising this year and NOT doing WDW, we thought a dinner at the new CG would give us just a taste!!

That would be the easiest solution. You want to rent at the port and drop off at MCO. It's done every day (or at least the days a ship is in port). They Hyatt charges for parking. The cost to rent a car, parking, tolls and gas will cost less then DCL combined with $100+ taxi/car service to the Contemporary.

Yep you can rent a car from Budget near the port. We did and it was easy!! Budget has a rental location 10 minutes from the ship. Budget has 4 shuttle vans waiting at the ship to pick up people getting off the ship and shuttle them to the rental location. The shuttle is free. Then we spent the night at WDW and turned the car in at the airport the next day and there was no additional charge for this. The cost was just under $40 for the car and gas.

So many options. :)

Definitely be sure to SEE what a rental car might cost from MCO and back that evening. It'll be the 24 hour rate, of course, even if you return it that night, but you won't know how much it will be until you check! (and check and check again)

We have a small family and I found the DCL bus to the airport to be useful and fun. We then picked up a rental car at the airport to head to Universal. For my trip at that time renting from the Port wasn't as good a price, and it wasn't as "fun" for us, either. The whole going to the rental agency thing just didn't add to our good times. But again, small family makes the cost not quite as high as if you have a larger family.

Now you have several possible combos, so run the numbers and figure out what's a hassle to *your* family, and see what works best for you!
