How does baby swap work? going dec.28-dec 30th just wondering. My girls are 9 and 12

I believe you both get in line and when you get to the front just tell the cm that you want to do the baby swap. They will let one of you go on the ride and when you are back the next parent gets to go on the next ride that leaves. I have never used it but that is what I have heared. :confused3

I doubt you will be able to use baby swap except for maybe PW or RNC. Most 9 yr olds are over 44 inches and baby swap is for those too short to ride.

I used it last time we went on Star Tours it was really nice and convienient. Me and DS 7 went on and then they opened the doors to the ride when it was over and my DH was standing right there with the baby and we swapped and he rode with DS, so DS got to ride twice back to back. We are defintialy going to use this next time we go too. Alot of times even 7 and 9 year olds don't want to go on certian rides and this will allow you and who ever you are with to enjoy the rides!!!

I don't know anyone who would swap a baby for a couple of pre-teens! :rotfl:

If your kids are too chicken to go on a ride they have to go through the queue with you and then take the chicken exit right before you are loaded onto the ride. You can have one adult wait with them and that adult will be "back-doored" into the ride when the first adult is done.

It works differently at different rides. For example at Soaring they will only let 1 parent enter the line and then the other parent has to stay outside of the line. When the other parent rides and gets off the remaining parent has to start at the back of the line. I know it seems like there is not a child swap at Soaring and believe me there isn't. What is worse is that the manager of the attraction doesn't care. I tried to explain child swap to him and was told that it worked as described above on Soaring and that was all there was to it.

We have done baby swap at Soarin' many times. You just tell the CM you need a parent swap pass. The first parent goes through the regular line (unless you have a FP). The second parent gets to go through the FP line with the swap pass.

We were just there last week. The baby swap (rider switch) is great. Once you get to the front of the line, just tell the CM you are doing rider switch and they will give you a ticket. The next person riding just goes through the FP line with the ticket - lickety split- works great. It's also cool because the rider switch ticket allows 3 people to go on one ticket so a couple people get to go twice. Most of the rides just gave me the tickets (my youngest is only 2) but on Test Track, for example, the CM needed to see the child not riding. Not normally a problem, but my husband and daughter were on a bench waiting for me. He just waved at us and the CM gave us the ticket. Oh, by the way, you don't have to use the ticket right away. So if you need to go get lunch, get to a show, etc., you can come back to the ride and use your rider switch ticket later. We used one for R&R 2 days later, there was an expiration date on the bottom. Have fun.

Baby swap is great if you have someone too little to ride.... I don't think they are supposed to give you a pass simply because someone doesn't want to ride. Can you imagine how many people this could involve in a day.

If a CM lets you get away with it consider it a bonus but don't go expecting it.

Which attractions do you think you'll need baby-swap on with a 9 and 12 yr old? If it is the more intense attractions, can you just get a Fastpass for those who want to ride?

Seems to me that the 9 and 12y olds could wait for mom & dad at whatever designated spot (bench, gift shop, whatev...) :confused3

When we did it a few weeks again we entered at the fast pass line. IT was easy. Most rides we did did it this way. They gave us a ticket and half rode the ride then we swaped the littles and went through the fast pass line with our pass.

You're right, that's how the baby swap works. It is intended for children who are too short to ride an attraction. Once a child is tall enough to ride an attraction, but too chicken to do so, they must walk through the queue anyway and swap at the end.

My DD now is 49" and 7 years old and fearless. Not so in August of 2005. She was too short for Rock and Roll Roller Coaster (48") so we got a Baby Swap Fast Pass for her. She was tall enough for Tower of Terror (40") but too chicken so we had to go through the pre-show and all the way up to the elevators. I took the "Chicken Elevator" in the center and waited for my husband bear the photo area. When my DH was done a CM brought me back up the Chicken Elevator to the loading area.

We had 2 fast passes and we were not allowed to do the child swap. My husband rode and I had to stay outside with our child. When he got off of Soaring he took her and I had to start at the back of the fast pass line. It took me 30 min to ride since I had to start at the end of the FP line. The manager was quite rude and did not care. My understanding through past experiences is that I should have just been able to go right on the ride when my husband got off. Regardless I still love the attraction just not their child swap policy.

You should have only had to use your one fast pass and get a child swap ticket. We did this lots so we could gat 2 FP for one and 2 FP for another ride (there were 4 adults) That way 2 could go in and get a swap ticket and then the other 2 would use the swap ticket. Then we could go right on the other ride doing the same thing

From past experience, we have always been let into the FP line with the swap ticket, but not to the front of the FP line - why would you get to cut all the other people waiting with FPs? I've never known of any child swap situation (when the child not riding is too short, and waits outside the attraction) that got you a 'front of the line' cut... :confused3
