Husband's Birthday (with kids) at Disney...

Hi. When we travel to Disney in September, my husband will have a birthday during our stay. Any suggestions for something special we can do for him? A really fancy dinner is out because our children will be 7 and (barely) 2. We've traveled enough to know that the end of the day, they're not at their best. I know basically which character meals are available. I'm just wondering if there are any "special" experiences any of you have had that we may want to recreate for our Birthday Dad. I know my little ones will get a kick out of celebrating his birthday at Disney. THANKS!

We'll be celebrating my DH's birthday at Disney next week (mine too actually but he's turning 30 so it's a "big one" for him - I'll just be 30 for the second year in a row. ). Anyway, I asked him what park he'd like to do on the big day and he chose Epcot. So we'll be going there for the day and doing the Coral Reef for dinner. My son is 3 years old and LOVES fish so I figure that he'll really like going to the Coral Reef.

To make it special for my DH, I spoke to the people at the Coral Reef and they are making a personalized menu for DH with pictures that I emailed to them. And a diver is going to come down with a sign wishing DH a happy birthday (and those are both complimentary!). And I ordered a special birthday cake for him because what's a birthday without CAKE?

That's what we'll be doing. Also, I made it an early dinner (5ish) so that DS isn't too tired or cranky.

Isn't it great? I can't wait for DH to see it. It's been very hard keeping this secret from him for the last couple of months!!!

We just got back and my DH celebrated his 40th while we were there. He's not a big 'gift' person and quite frankly our trip itself was his present LOL.
But someone on here suggested that I have all our friends send him a birthday card to the hotel so that when he arrived he would have 'packages' to be picked up. In the end he rec'd 25 birthday cards and he was very surprised - it didn't take much coordination, just an email and mailing for those people I didn't have an email address for....then the obvious coordination with the hotel desk to ensure they held them for our arrival. It was a cheap/economical memory to create for him

Whaaaaaaaaaaa! I want to be at Disney on MY birthday!!! Ok, I'm switching back to being a grown up now. Maybe someday, he will surprise me with my dream trip. I was very excited to read the earlier post. My DH really likes seafood. I will have to check into this place!

We're going in September too and both my DD and DH will be celebrating birthdays while we are there. For DH, we're having dinner at the Coral Reef and I've spoken with Debbi to arrange the diver and the personalized menu. For DD, I have BBB booked and then lunch at CRT and we'll be ordering a cake. The trip is going to be a birthday surprise for DD so our girls know nothing about the trip. DH knows about the trip and then plans for DD, but has no idea that I'm planning something for his birthday.

Wow, 2 votes for Coral Reef and the Diver. Thanks. We are actually already scheduled for Epcot the day of DH b-day. I booked us at Garden Grille but it looks like I'll be changing. SKW444: We are also booked at BBB but I'm hoping my daughter will change her mind (though I'll gladly go if she sticks to her plan). I think it will be so hot and that the dress and makeover will be "wasted." My DD is 7 so she'll want the full get up shoes and all. I don't know how she can walk in the heat and ride all of the rides in the full princess gear. I think the 200.00 is too much just to wear it all during dinner only. If she remains determined and I'll just bite the bullet - it is Disney after all. I'm still hoping for more ideas - thanks.
