Husband my get laid off!

So my hubby heard terrible news yesterday, on my birthday and anniversary at that. He is working next week and if things don't pick up at work he will be laid off. I believe it only temporary but who knows!! He is a production manager at a local company that produces and sell minibar items/amenities for luxury hotels throughout the world. Coupled with the fact that travel is way down and now the peanut recall things are very slow at work. They are dealing with this peanut recall thing. They have to credit various hotels large amounts of money and can't get any peanut products in to produce work. They sell honey roasted peanuts in various packaging to the minibars in such hotels and the Sheratons, Westins, W Hotels, Renaissances, Ritz Carltons, Marriotts, to name a few. I cancelled our upcoming trip to disney this coming april- boohoo!!

I have noticed fewer hotels even offer the mini bar items anymore-the old mini bars now are empty, to store personal beveraged etc

I'd say he is in a very failing buisness & should look for something else ASAP

That is just it- last month they had record sales but this month- blah blah. They have started doing business with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and others want to jump on board. But on average there has been a substantial decrease from the bigger hotel chains.

We both looked all the time, just in case there is something better out there. Here in Buffalo there isn't much unfortunately. We will be okay!!

I'm also sorry to hear this. If it is any consolation at all, when I look back at my worst days, I now see them as days that started changes for the better. The jobs I lost spurred changes that eventually led to better jobs and a better career.

There are better days ahead!! I think of myself and how I am striving to try something different in life. I have two business degrees and have worked in accounting for many years. This fall I am going back to college to obtain my master's in Forensic Science- total career change. At least I can say there is a demand for that field in this area.
