 Husband just calls me to tell me he is getting sick. Great! We are supposed to leave on the 23rd for our trip. This is how it always starts with our family, he gets sick and then the rest of us get sick. I hate to think we are about to spend all this money on a trip and we will all be too sick to enjoy it or end up canceling it!

I'm so sorry!
All I can suggest is if it seems like the flu have him see a doctor and see if they can nip it in the bud, and keep him quaranteened at home:guilty:

LOTS AND LOTS OF LYSOL EVERYWHERE IN YOUR HOUSE IS WHAT I RECOMMEND. Keep him in your bedroom and the kids in another room away from him. Make him go to the doctor right away and if possible see if they have a shot of medicine instead of a prescription; they seem to work better and more efficiently. My sis uses the "Airborne" med that seems to keep you from getting sick and also maybe try amping up you and your kids Vitamin C intake. Good Luck.

Aw that stinks! We're leaving July 5th, and my 5 yo daughter and husband just came down with Coxsackie virus. I think it's plenty of time for them to get better, but I'm just worried that me or my 2 yo will get it later on. I hear it can take weeks to feel better. :( Fingers crossed for you (and myself!).

Like the others said, go to the dr asap. It might just be a cold but if you have a good family Dr. that you can tell them whats going on they are usually really good at helping out. Also ask for something for the kids so if they get sick in Disney you will have it on hand. Best of luck! Hope all are feeling great and you get to enjoy your trip:dance3:

vit c orally for everyone. cool mist vaborize a tree tree euchaliptus compo..it has anti viral properties and "cleans the air" my husband and I woke up very sick on day 2 of our first disney trip in feb...we had to :suck it up" for the kids but it was hard when you just wanted to be in bed.

Definitely have him go to the doctor and now to get it taken of. I would have him stay away from you & the kids as much as possible to keep it from spreading.

There is really no point in going to the doctor here. They won't give you antibiotics anymore unless you have been sick for a long time or have a high fever for more than 5 days. The last time I got it after a month they finally get me antibiotics. It seems like we get this congestion, probably due to allergies then it seems to turn into sinus infection. They are extremely against giving antibiotics anymore (military doctors).

Stick him in the basement or a separate room away from everyone.

When I had the flu the last time thats what I did, fortunately it did not hit my wife or kids. Pretty damned boring after a while, there is only so much Maury Povich a guy can handle...

Oh yes, and lots of lysol on the doorknobs, switches etc.

Not just military Doctors...just about all Doctors are like that anywhere. It's like a medical version of Global Warming. :sad2:

Hey, could be worse. We leave in a few days for Disney, and I just got a call that my Grandfather is now on his death bed. Count your blessings that you only have a cold to deal with.
Doesnt it seem odd how these things work sometimes~:confused3

Open all the windows, spray bomb the house with Lysol and then give DH a box of Zicam flu, a bottle of orange juice, a box of tissues and lock him in a room for a week. When he thinks he can breath without help from a vaporizer then he can come out.

My DH has a cold and he's acting like he's about to die. :rotfl:

Seriously don't let him near the rest of the family! Spray everything with Lysol to fight the germs and walk around with hand sanitizers. Maybe Mr. Germ won't pass it onto the rest of you. Tell him you love him, but if anyone else gets sick he'll pay dearly!

Before every WDW trip we go on somebody gets sick either before or during our vacation so far its been fine, but I'm waiting for it. Sorry he is sick, personally I would just push through it, considering I am usually the person who gets sick I refuse to let sickness slow me down in WDW. As others have said Lysol, medicine, and quarantine to prevent anyone else from getting sick.

As a teacher, I'm neurotic about door knobs! :lmao: During flu season, I use Clorox wipes for the doors, desks, etc... Vitamin C/orange juice, lysol, and keep him away from the kids. (Don't forget the hand sanitizer! :)) Hope it's just a cold, and that no one else gets sick!

My suggestions: Euchanecia Pills (you can buy them over the counter) and have everyone start taking an allergy pill at night (claritin or zyrtec over the counter as well to head it off)!!! Load your hubby up and quarantine him!!!

Good Luck!!!

My DH got sick right before I was leaving for WDW by myself. I hated the thought of being sick at WDW and sharing a room with a friend while coughing and sneezing. When I had a scratchy throat the day before I was supposed to leave, I started taking Airborne and kept it up for three days. Never caught the cold, hooray!

My advice to the OP: buy a bag of the Airborne lozenges and have everyone start using them now.
