Hurricanes

We had WDW vacations and a DCL cruise during Irma and Dorian. Both times we got lucky and really hit the lotto when it came to theme park crowds. Dorian we were the last cruise before it hit the Bahamas. Our eastern turned into a western. They actually closed the parks with Dorian resorts on lockdown. I remember the check-in lines were so long at Coronado Springs from locals checking in. They kept saying that whenever there’s a hurricane they go to Disney because they know their power won’t go out. The silver lining though during Irma and Dorian is that we experienced theme parks with really really low crowds. It was almost worth it. It was so nerve-racking because we just didn’t know what the outcome would be but in hindsight It was a great experience. I have pictures of us at the animal kingdom and Epcot. we don’t see a single other person in line with us. Safari was a walk on and all the other rides.

We also lucked out with flights. It always affected the day before after but never on the day we were scheduled to fly. In the top it all off with our luck with Dorian our flight was delayed for hours and so they gave us food vouchers. We were flying business class on Lufthansa and we were four people and we each got $40. For my kids it was like food and wine vegetable but at the airport lol. We couldn’t even spend all the money on food. What is the one of those things you just don’t know the outcome. In hindsight, Irma and Dorian for us was a great thing. But it could’ve gone south really fast for everyone. And it did for those poor people in the Caribbean.
