Hello,

I have just read that the US are predicting this hurricane season to be as destructive as 2005 (2005 being the worst on record).

Eak!

Fingers crossed for us all!

Oh please no !! Got caught in one last time (yes, in 2005), and it was frightening.

I'll keep fingers (and toes) crossed that it doesn't happen !!

I wouldnt worry about it, we're into the 2nd month of the hurricane season and its been quiet..

well thanks for pointing that out :scared1:

We are flying out on the 3rd of August and are hoping for a hurricane free holiday! Well not any major ones anyway!

I hope you are all right!

I know I shouldn't worry as WDW aew so prepared for anything anyway!

fingers crossed...and toes, legs, arms...

The weather forcasters can't even predict accurately whether it will rain this afternoon in my little corner of Florida - they've been wrong so far, all week long.

So Why Worry?

I must admit the weather in orlando get worse every year ,past few yrs we have been staying in a rented villa, just wondered if a hurricane was to hit orlando what should we do?? as we are not traveling with any tour agent, can anyone offer any advice ? pls

I go in 6 days- I really hope it's not lik 2005!! We missed the hurricane in 05 by a few weeks but when we were there it was cold!! The weather was terrible and it was te 1st time every that I had to wear a cardigan in the day time. No tan that year!

We don't go with a tour agent either. We stay in a villa too.
We have spoken about this and we would check into a disney hotel.

Hi

We were there for Wilma and the start of Andrew. We flew on the day it arrived :confused3 needless to say it was a bumpy flight.

When hurricane Wilma hit. I didnt think it was too bad. They closed the parks till mid day and it was rather windy walking around Epcot. A little cold for three days. It didnt spoil our holiday. It did calm down alot before it hit Florida.

We were there in 2005 and ended up with 1 days bad weather (day before hurricane hit) and a day stuck in the hotel when it hit. Wasnt too bad but not that much fun!

They did "predict" a bad year last year too and it never happened so it could be fine!

While I would agree with people who say, "don't worry about it", I would tell you to at least be aware. (What the season has been like so far is immaterial.) Central Florida is normally pretty safe, but have a plan in the back of your head if something happens.

Relax and have fun! :3dglasses

We will be staying at a riverside villa in Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte on the gulf coast during October - so will be keeping our fingers crossed as I think this area took a direct hit in 2004.

We'll have to wait and see, but they also said 2006 would be as bad as 2005, but it wasn't.

As long as you are prepared and know what to do then there shoukd be no worries. Watchthe weahter channel, and if there are fears of a hurricane they give good advice.

If you are renting a villa through ta management company and you are worried give the management company a ring.

We were in Mexico for Hurricane Wilma which was an, erm, interesting experience as we'd only been in the country for 24 hours prior to it hitting and then had to spend 3 whole days holed up in a room with another couple while she pounded away (slow thing that she was). The only positive thing about it was that we got a 100% refund for that holiday!

I'm not particularly worried about there being a hurricane when we're in Orlando. It's a possibility at the time of year we're going and we just have to keep our eyes and ears peeled.....
