Stupid question, but when is/are hurricane seasons taking place in WDW and on DCL? Would hurricane impact DCL (ie, altogether cancel sailing?).

i beleive it is from june15th to october15th.
i have watched the last couple of years because i have had a august(3rd) cruise booked and was nervous.what i have found is early in the hurricane season(june, july)if one does pop up it always seems to be in the gulf of mexico and go up thru either pan handle or new orleans.so it never seems to effect the carribian.but say the last week in august and all of september is prime time for hurricanes that could change magic or wonder course.
they know so far in advance that they go around the hurricanes or stay a day at sea instead of stopping at an island.
other than rough seas for a day that is about all that happens.

Old time sayings that any month that ends with a R is hurricane season. We have seen hurricanes brew in late August and go into Early December though. This doesn't happen very oftern though. At WDW- it only closes when there are safety concerns and I know that they did close last year. As fo the cruise itself you would be rerouted to the safest route- ie Key West, Bahamas, Cozumel, and the Carolinas are where ships have been rerouted to in previous years.

We have sailed 3 times during hurricane season and it has been fine. The first time in 99 that we sailed we were told we would be rerouted because a hurricane had hit in September but we actually were the first back on the normal route. It really wouln't have mattered to me- the ship is wonderful and is the biggest reason we choose DCL- also you can go to the regular ports anytime- I would like going somewhere new and unexpected!! Exciting

We were at DW in September 2000. There was a hurricane passing through, nothing closed that day, but with the high winds and rain, we decided to go to Disney Quest, which everyone had the same thought.

In October 2001, we were sailing on the Magic during a tropical storm and a hurricane. Instead of going to St. Maarten, the captain re-routed us to San Juan, Puerto Rico. The cast members said the ship can outrun and hurricane or tropical storm.

We will be sailing again in October--we loved it!

Hurricane season runs from June1 through November 30. September 10 is supposed to be the height of the season. We have sailed September 11 and the last week in October and had wonderful weather.
As other folks have noted the ship can, and will, be rerouted. Then you get to go on a "mystery cruise". :pinkbounc

As SQUIGGLE noted, the season is officially from June 1 to November 30 with its peak around September 10. Your highest chances for an altered itinerary are between mid-August and early October. No cruise has ever been cancelled, but they do occasionally go in entirely different directions to avoid being anywhere near the storm. In addition to the "mystery cruise" that went to Castway Cay twice and San Juan once, one of the Wonder cruises this past Fall went to Charleston, SC.

Also note that you can have rough seas all during the season. The last storm of this past season lingered into the first week of December. And even though the actual storm was nowhere near the ship, it still caused rough seas all over the Caribbean.

We have cruise twice during hurricane season. In September of 2000 we were on the north edge of tropical depression #12 and the seas were rough. Cruised again in September of 2001 and had beautiful weather and calm seas. Great thing about hurricane season are the rates!

Thanks for the great info, just in case that the DVC Anniversary cruise is full, I will have other options.

BTW-Anyone knows whether DCL will have "reduced" rates on pts usage for the fall cruises?

Sink, I called DVC MS on Friday to ask about reduced points and they said as of now, they have not reduced the number of points for Fall cruises. If they do, it will be announced in April or May.
