Hurricane Jeanne

The latest storm track has been updated by NOAA as of 5:00PM today (9/23). Unfortunatly, the track goes right through Orlando. Unbelievable! I hope this changes!

Well, I was going to do a car town but I am arriving alone and meeting my friend later - she's been delayed due to class reschedules after Charley and Frances - she will meet me until Wed!!

I've not had any problems with Mears, except in Feb when we had to wait what seemed like forever, but might have been 20 mins - still a long time. We were dropped off first. I had a town car, but cancelled it - maybe not too bright!!

It seems some are leaving early to get there before Jeanne hits - I tried to check the hurricane url, but could not get a clear explantion of where she might be by Monday. Heard any news?

:wave2:

Sooo..I wonder if that means Monday flights will be delayed or conceled? Wondering if I should try to get in on Saturday?? Any thoughts?

Yuk! :( We leave Saturday AM for DH's conference. It is amazing that the track is changing so fast.

Please go away Jeanne!!

Hopefully it will be downgraded to a TS when it hits land, and the parks will stay open. Wishful thinking....

Also wondering here...we are supposed to fly out sun 7am- thought about trying to get earlier flight on sat but to get there and do what? ride out hurricane in the room? Perhaps we are all better off waiting at home until its over. UGH!!! This stinks!!!

We are also flying out on Monday a.m. from Toronto. Wondering if flights will be back on schedule by then? We are with Air Transat so our rebook options are very limited. My sister is having a breakdown....they are getting married next Wednesday!

Jeanne, Jeanne, go away...and don't come back another day!!!!

We're coming down on Monday am on Southwest with my sister who flew to NY through the tail end of Charlie (quote "Gee it's hard to throw up in those little air sick bags!"), my mother who hates to fly (too many bad winter landings in Toronto), and it will be my 20 month old son's first flight (thinking this may traumatize him for life)....yippee.

Can't cancel as my sister will be out the $800 conference fee, and I always swear unless I'm dead I'll get on the plane if it's Disney.

Here's hoping!!!!!

Tracey

Maybe we'll all have to get together and charter a plane. If the plane is flying I'll be on it...I'm worried about it being cancelled!

As of a few minutes ago Disney is not waiving any cancellation fees! I also called AA and they have a policy of one free change for anyone traveling to FL (and ofther places effected by any hurricane) from August 30 thru Oct 17. I also asked AA the possibiltiy of my flight getting cancelled Monday a.m. if the storm hits Orlando Sunday aftenoon - she said if it is not as bad as Charley probably no delays or cancellations. As of an hour ago no one had been asked to work overtime.

I was thinking of going doen Sat to be sure I got there, but that would mean 2 extra nights and just to hang around...so I am waiting until tomorrow to see what the predictions look like then.

If I had a Sunday morning flight I;d call my airline NOW to see what they can do...maybe arrive one day early so you will still get your full vacation rather than trying to be sweezed on to an already full later flight?

Good luck to all!!

Hi, I am local central Floridian. I actually live on the Coast but I will try and answer some of your questions.

1) Jeanne is gaining strength. On the current track, she will still be a Cat 1 hurricane going through Orlando. The intensity and track is always subject to change.
2) On the current track Tropical Storm winds will be felt in Orlando on Saturday. Most airports shut down at 40 MPH winds (airlines will most like start cancelling flights even before that point).

I remember hearing cancellation charges were waived for Frances. Did the same happen for Ivan? How long before a hurricane makes landfall does this policy usually start? I am scheduled to arrive tomorrow night for a quick weekend trip. It doesn't look like it's going to be possible for me to make this trip since my flight back from Orlando is on Sunday. Just trying to figure out if I'm going to lose my money on my Pop Century reservation, and how to handle the cancellation/re-scheduling at this point.

bunnyfoo...just wondering which town car service you are using? I've read so much about so many and am now confused!

Thanks!

Here's a more detailed map. This is as of 5pm today.

You are never going to believe this... A couple of my friends were going to Orlando for a wedding the weekend that Ivan was coming thru. The wedding was cancelled and postponed for this weekend  .I just called them, they are at the Premium Outlets and when I told them about Jeanne they thought I was kidding and started to laugh. I called them back and I told them I was serious and they could not believe it. I don't know the bride, but, I feel soooo bad for her. I cannot even imagine what is going on in her mind. I personally would be devastated.

Sending Pixie dust to everyone in Florida that might be affected by Jeanne. Unbelievable !!!:earseek:

I'm sending you a PM :)

We are here in Disneyland for a vacation. We are cutting our vacation short so we can get home to Orlando before this hurricane hits. My daughter lives in Melbourne which is expected to take a hit. Hopefully we can get home before they start shutting down the airport.

I called US Airways and changed flights. There has to be seats available in your fare class to change with no extra charges.

I just can't believe it! I'm beginning to wonder if *somebody* is trying to tell us something...we were originally scheduled to go Sept 4-11 but had to reschedule because of Frances. We rescheduled to fly out Sat! Grrr... I'm just thinking of all of you who live down there and are having such a rough season :(

So, who has any good rainy day activities? ;)
