What the local news here in New Orleans is saying that they expect what is left of Ivan to steer Jeanne more north and if that does not happen, we would then have to watch it very carefully as it would takes more of a westerly track. OUCH!!
That is what I have heard also. If you are looking at the 2 different tracks, they are showing the "line" totally different, but if you look at the "cone of uncertianty", they are bacially saying the same thing...meaning that is can strike anywhere in the cone & anywhere in the cone may feel something from it. I have learned NOT to look at the track, just the cone. Charley's track was going to Tampa, even while it was turning right at me, NOAA was still saying Tampa. But when you looked at the cone, Ft Myers/Punta Corda was at the very end of the cone & we got slammed...Tampa got nothing. So do not look at the line, that line will change 100 times, the cone will shift, but somewhere in the cone will get it, not just the track. Ivan seemed to have done the same last night /early am hours today. It was aimed at New Orleans, the track turned and hit more near Mobile & the Pan Handle. No the track wasn't on them but the cone was. Think about Frances, the track had it going directly thru Orlando, it didn't , it went south of there, but the cone had south of Orlando in it... these tracks aren't an exact science. Watch the cone, not the track.
