Hurricane Jeanne Cancellation Policy

I just spoke with WVL about the cancellation policy as I was suppose to check-in tomorrow (Sunday). I needed the clarification as the points for this trip would have expired this month if I did cancel the reservation.

The person at WVL said I should be able to carry-over the points as they would make a one-time exemption. I would need to call Member Services on Monday to confirm.

Has anyone ran into a similar situation? If yes, how much additional time would Member Service give me to use up the points that would have expired at the end of September?

It sounds like the CM was talking about the one time banking exception. That means you would be able to bank the points into the next use year even though your banking deadlines have passed. Sounds like you have an October use year, so that means the points would expire at the end of September, 2005.

Be sure you have enough points to make using the exception worthwhile. It really is a "one time" exception. If you use it now, that's it for the duration of your contract.

Granted, I am new to all of this, so maybe I was misinformed. But we were originally supposed to check into OKW for our first trip home on Sunday of Labor Day weekend.
Due to Frances, we called two days before and delayed our check in by one day. The points were banked.

Then it did not look any better on Saturday , so we called down again and delayed check in by one more day. OKW changed the check in day, but told us we would have to contact MS after they opened on Tues after Labor Day to bank the points.

Our user year is Feb.
My understanding was they were allowing the points to be banked because of the hurricanes.
But as I said, we are new to this.
Hope I did not use my one and only exception to bank points.
If that is the case, I think I would have rather lost the 16 points.

I just spoke to Member Services and they where able to bank my leftover 2003 points into the 2004 Use Year. My Use Year is in October, so I was very happy they were able to bank the points without losing it due to the hurricane.

I just had a similar experience to john 255, except MS was willing to bank points to 2004 (Oct. use year) that had already been banked from the 2002 use year! I was thrilled. I feel like they went above and beyond on this one.
