Hurricane Dorian Forces Disney Dream to Alter Sailings

Wasn’t the cell tower more covered up/hidden before?

I went back and looked at my pics from when we there earlier this year, and the tower looked just like it does in the above photo. I think it it's as noticeable when all the other stuff is out, I didn't even notice it in my pics when I first looked at them.

Wasn’t the cell tower more covered up/hidden before?

It used to have enough fake leaves to make it look like a “palm tree “. But, I think it’s been a couple of years since I’ve seen those. It probably became just too much trouble to put them up again after heavy winds.

When they say they need to wait for survey equipment I assume they also mean surveyors. I'm guessing that some surveyors might port with a ship in Port Canaveral and the ship will make another stop at CC where they don't let passengers off.

Thank you for the photo updates. It looks so "bland" without all the set ups and umbrellas, but it doesn't appear to have the significant damage some reports said it might.

Looks like 6 ships in Port Canaveral. Glad they all weathered the storm and crew and passengers returned safe and sound.

I am sure they all have a story to tell!

When we were stuck out at sea during Hurricane Frances, it was the only time we saw so many ships out and about at sea. Everyone was just meandering waiting for an all clear. And when we docked in Port Everglades, the Wonder pulled up behind us and the two ships had a ship's horn battle -- it was classic!

I'm gonna say Disney cost us almost $2000 by not cancelling the dream on 9/2 and that's not even counting nearly 16 total hours on hold getting bounced back and forth between DCL and DVC(what's that time worth?). With our original plans being 2 days in Cocoa beach before the cruise, 4 day sailing, then rental car and OKW for 2 nights. We call on friday(after hours and hours on being on hold) and are told that if we don't show up wednesday or cancel now it's on us and we lose our points. The hotel in Cocoa put on their website that they are closing for the hurricane, we get our money back from them but lost an $80(once used we lose it) credit we had. Being that our flight for saturday morning is not affected by the hurricane yet, can't cancel or change without a fee. As of early friday there were no room available, later in the day a few opened up, but that cost us 73 more points(@ even a mere $10/pp = $730). The only thing available at the time was a 1 bdr, by Saturday morning there were some studios but we were told we would lose the extra points by switching. At this point it's just insulting everytime I talk to someone from DVC or DCL. The rental car is now around $200 for 8 days as opposed to $40 for 2 days, $55 in gas instead of maybe 15. Groceries and meals for the cruise days. Our renters in Clearwater called and wanted to stay til friday, but we already made plans to go there and had no place else to stay without shelling out more points or money. So there is some lost income. DCL didn't let us know til monday night that the cruise was cancelled. And that day told us we only had that day to pick a new sailing and it had to be by October 2nd sailing date. 3 more hours of being on hold when someone finally gave us good news. They are giving us til next year to pick a new sailing date, but if it's more points we will have to pay the difference. I am so disgusted with Disney right now. I don't know about anyone else, but this hurricane was on the news. Disney forced our hand into flying to orlando and possibly getting stuck in the hurricane. I'm typing this very angry right now, so I'm probably leaving a bunch of details out. But I think anyone who reads this will get the points. DVC are treated like second class citizens once you join. There were a bunch of members sitting around the BW quiet pool last week with many horror stories and how customer service is not the strangth of DVC.
