Hurray for DCL. The Mickey Pool was GROSS!

We cruised the Magic in August. It was the talk of the ship. In the morning the Mickey pool was OK, but after a couple of hours it was MURKY. Talking about that pool was like talking about an outhouse. Noses wrinkled.

NO WAY if I had a little kid would I let them swim in that water. I couldn't BELIEVE what was going on.

I just read pages and pages of people complaining about the new potty-trained-only policy. Yes, DSL should get sandboxes and sprinklers for the untrained ones. No, you should not be mad. You should be GLAD that they have the honesty and forthrightness to do the right thing, the thing that will keep A LOT OF KIDS not only toddlers from being EXPOSED TO DISEASE.

You want your kids to wash their hands, you want them to eat off of clean dishes, you want their meat cooked, WHY DO YOU WANT THEM TO SWIM IN TOILET WATER?

Disney had to make the rules because the parents were not using common sense.

Just a note, we are not going to start this as a debate topic here. :)

Thanks for sharing your experience, Cruella.

After the heated debate on these boards -- it was interesting to read about the same topic on a thread over at cruise critic. Quite the opposite reaction -- people over there were PLEASED that DCL had their kids best interests at heart. One mother was upset but soon understood the seriousness. I bet that in the next couple of weeks we will be hearing of new programming for this age group --- Disney won't let us down!
;)

After everything I have read on the whole thing, I have only one comment:

I absolutely agree with what Cruella said. Why anyone would want to expose their kid to potentially infectious, harmful water completely escapes me.

I also would agree there should be some kind of wet play area(kind of like what's at the one end of Downtown Disney, spongy ground and water 'spurts') for the little ones that doesn't include standing water.
