I have been trying to get my Mum and Dad to come to Florida with me since I first went over 10 years ago (and before when I was a kid). They have had no desire to go even though I know they will love the likes of Epcot and Seaworld. I mentioned it again the other day and Dad has finally been persuaded. Mum came with me to Disneyland Paris a few years back and liked it so she was quite happy to come.

I'm really looking forward to planning a trip with them in mind and hope they come back loving it as much as I do.

Am going to treat them to Premium Economy on the flights for starters :cheer2:

:) Arr aren't you kind Helen, treating them to Premium Economy !! Have loads of fun with your planning

Thats great news.....I went with my parents first in 1987 and again in 1992 then the whole extended family followed and my grandparents are aged 82 and 80 and will be joining me in November. It will be just fantastic to experience their insight into Disney :grouphug:

Great News! I found it really great introducing my parents to WDW and showing them everything. They liked it so much, they want to come with us on all of our trips!

Have fun! :flower:

Thats great news Hells, my mum LOVES florida but my dad won't be persuaded to go at all, he loves all things disney too but just can't be bothered with the flight which is odd as he's been to Canada a few times with me. I wish he'd go but you can take a horse to water... my mum says she'd sooner he stayed at home than annoy us with his moaning!

Congratulations,im sure you'll all have a wonderful time :goodvibes
Happy Planning :wizard:

:earsgirl:

Good for them. Hope you all have a fantastic time.

That's great and the premium economy upgrade is a real treat. My parents finally came with us this July. My dad's disbelief when he shook hands with Mickey in MK will stay with me forever. I have it on video and it makes me tearful every time I watch it. He still tells everyone who listens "I met Mickey - He's real you know" :rotfl: Happy Planning :flower:

That's great! I'm sure you'll all have a truly memorable trip :)

I've been trying to get my parents to Florida, we took them to DLP in July and loved it, to the point they've worn the video out!
DF had quite severe heart attacks a few years ago and is very nervy about going on the plane. If the truth be known he is fitter at 76 than I am at 38! :confused3
Any good tips to talk them both round, don't think we'll have any problems with DM.

Hi Anthony, shame about your DFs heart probs maybe his reluctance to go is down to people scaring him with their horrific insurance prices? if thats the case and he's been problem free for over twelve months he shouldn't have too much of a problem, shop around on his behalf and show him what great deals you can get then nag, nag and nag some more hopefully he'll give in. I wish my dad would! unfortunately he's Anti American through and through.

I think the most wonderful thing about sharing WDW with your parents is its a kind of reverse from when you were a kid, you go into little child mode and to see them seeing it through your eyes is wonderful.

I am sure you will all have a magical time! How lovely of you to pay for the PE seats :)

Helen, how did you persuade your father?
Carol, I think that is exactly what the problem is, the insurance, went round their last night to give them an old office pc (check them out, 70 & 76 with their first pc!) and started chatting and brought up this thread. Told them about princesses 82 & 80 yr old going with them and I think I'm breaking them down.
Agree about reversal, when we went to DLP earlier this year they loved it!

I have absolutely no idea. I suppose it may be because I've moved to Ireland and don't live round the corner from them anymore so it's nice to have holidays together. Although I think it's probably my Mum that persuaded him rather than me.
