Seem that we have a nasty disturbance heading our way and should be in here sometimes in the morning.

Will be a Cat 2 (probably more inline with a Cat 1) at worse according to what weather channel you are listening to.

Had to tell the little one goodbye for a few days ( I don't know how soldiers do this when they are deployed) and placed her in the arms of Grandma and Grandpa a little bit ago (if you think Daddy's don't cry, think again) to make she is safe and secure north of us and out of the way.

Both the wife and I are in the Chemical Plant and Refinery line of work and we are first responders so duty calls.

Again this one doesn't look that bad and I have been through a more of these then Carter has peanuts but each one gives me the jitters more and more here lately.

If you don't mind say a little prayer for everyone on the coast and in reach of this little bugger.

Thanks all

Drake

Thoughts and prayers with you and you wife! Good luck, by the looks of it, maybe it won't be too bad. :goodvibes Be prepared just in case! We have watched them closely a time or two ourselves! Never had it too terribly bad though.:) Just bad enough for me! Take care.

You absolutely have prayers and pixie dust headed your way!!!

Take care Drake...

Thoughts and prayers going to you, your family and all those in the Gulf Coast. I can only imagine how heartbreaking it was to send your little one away. I know my Sister has done it a few times living in FL. She, as a nurse, also goes on hurricane duty. Take comfort in knowing she is safe and with loved ones. Stay safe Drake.

Prayers and Pixie Dust are on the way!!! :tinker: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:  Stay safe!

Warm thoughts and well wishes heading your way.

Look at the bright side...

Your baby is out of harms way, and you can enjoy finally getting some RAIN!

Big Texas-sized prayers and thoughts going with you and your little one.

:grouphug:

Stay as safe as you can and bless you for your help of others. :goodvibes

Sending my prayers and thoughts.

Living in a hurricane zone myself I know how you feel - there is nothing more stressful than watching the Weather Channel and knowing there is almost nothing you can do to stop an impending storm. It gets to the point where you have the times for the next National Hurricane Center update memorized and you countdown the minutes until it is posted. What did people do without the Weather Channel and http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ ???

Right now the weather is just as nice as can be. Just sitting around waiting..

Stay safe Drake. We're not going to get anywhere the amount of rain y'all are, but it looks like we'll be getting a healthy amount. And great timing too...my management final exam is Wednesday, and I'm moving apartments some time this week. All this on top of a hurricane. What fun!

Right there with you!
It is an erie "calm before the storm" feeling now. Hopefully this will be an easy one to get through. I am in League City, TX about 20 miles from Galveston. Stay safe fellow "Gulf Coasters."

stay safe! we just missed the last storm by a week- we were in Port A on vacation right before it hit. your little one is simplyl adorable btw! :thumbsup2

Your right down the road as the crow flies.

Another Southeast Texan here. Just got done cleaning the pool and mowing the yard. Dh thinks I'm nuts, he says it'll be all messy tomorrow anyway, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I picked up some supplies this morning at the grocery store, checked the generator, and debriefed the kids. They remember Rita so they know what to expect. I'm hoping we don't loose power.

Stay safe....

Wow, a kindred spirit!!! The last time I evacuated for a hurricane I had to clean my house before I would leave. Everyone thought I was crazy but it made me feel better knowing I was leaving my house all clean and tidy. It doesn't even make sense to me since I hate to clean and don't do it very often but it gave me some control in an otherwise control-less situation. Hmmm, I think I may issues with control. :rolleyes1

The lines at walmart & loses were crazy. Some gas stations were sold out of fuel this evening

My DH just went out to fill up the tanks. I expect he'll be gone a while!:rolleyes1

Technically, I'm still on vacation as we just came back from South Padre Island this weekend so I had time to go do errands early this morning. I really don't think it'll be that bad. I have to go back to work tomorrow and I'm hoping I won't have to stay indefinitely (healthcare worker)but I'm packing a toothbrush and necessities just in case.
