'Hunger' has been changed to...

seriously, why do they keep changing the names of words? it's soo confusing! haha XD

why did they change it anyway?

The only reason I can think they changed it, is because it might offend Hungarians that don't like their country to stand for lack of food or something...

Does that mean we have to refer to 'thirsty' as 'drink insecurity'?

Probably because 'hunger' is too real and honest. It's hard to say that most of the world is hungry, so 'most of the world has food insecurities' sounds much better.

i don't think many people are offended by the word hunger.

and it's spelt and said different to hungary so it shouldn't matter.

What the hell?
Just because you're hungry doesn't mean you a food insecurity.
That's if you're starving yourself.

I just fasted for 30 hours this weekend, part of world visions "30 hour famine" where we raise money and do community service while fasting, and it REALLY opened up my eyes about EVERYTHING. About life. About how blessed I am to just EAT every day.

The entire time, they used the word Hunger.

The world should stop wasting their time coming up with new words to put in the thesaurus, and just get busy trying to help SOLVE it.

There is enough WHEAT in the world ALONE to serve EVERYONE a 3,500 calorie meal...thats not even INCLUDING veggies or fruits.

It is what it is.

and it is hunger, and starvation.

26,000 children UNDER the age of 5 die EACH day from preventable causes like DISEASE, POVERTY, and HUNGER, thats 1 child every 3 seconds

That REALLY bothers me.
That they'd change the definiton to make it SEEM better.
That is SO terrible.
These are LIVES we are talking about.

 :headache:

For real?! That's freaking stupid.
I'm not about to be like, "I have food insecurity guys!"
No that's just dumb.

I think they mean 'food insecurity' as in, their food supply is not secure. Not in the usual since of the word 'insecurity', involving self-worth.

Which is BS, most of the world's food supply is not insecure, it's non-existant. They are hungry, period.

Food doesn't feel secure. :\

Huh?

I'm blanking on what you mean?

I associate the word security with a feeling. You feel secure. You don't feel secure. Food doesn't have a feeling.

And what angers me most, is that the people who decided to coin this pc term have probably never experienced a day of hunger or starvation in their lives. They shouldn't be encroaching on that territory because it's not theirs. Or ours.

ahahah WHAT?!
that's honestly one of the dumbest things i've ever heard.

it's great to see that we're spending our time valuably, looking to change terms that work perfectly fine to get their point across, instead of doing pointless things like, oh, i don't know, working on solutions to fixing the problem of a huge amount of world citizens going without food.
