What are they suppost to do? I bought my husband one, and we filled it with water. We had left it on while we were out, and when we returned home, water was around it, and on the floor. :confused3

NOT THAT!!! Sounds like you didn't get the cap screwed back on tight or there is a leak somewhere. They are supposed gently mist out moisture into the air, not spill it all over :lmao:

Standing water on the floor around the humidifier should not happen. Might there be something wrong with the unit?

You got a humidifier right, not a dehumidifier? I don't mean to ask a silly question, I was just checking because a dehumidifier would take water out of the air and the reservoir would start out dry and fill up with water removed the air. A humidifier does the opposite - you fill the reservoir with water and it heats it and puts it out into the air. Do you mean it was just damp around the humidifier, like condensation or was it like puddles/pools of water around the humidifier when you returned?

Yes a humidifer. There was a puddle of water that was surrounding the machine. Possibly, water that just came out of the reservoir.

If it's not a "dehumidifier", then it's either broken, you didn't screw the cap tight enough on the water reserve, or you didn't set it on the base correctly..

Were you trying to put warm air in the house or cool mist?

It is a humidifier-had to have my husband double check :rotfl2:. And, I have never heard of a dehumidifer until today.

We read the instructions, and it said to only add in cold water, so that is what we had done.

If everything is seated properly, there must be something wrong with the humidifier. Can you exchange it for another?

You always put cold water in the humidifier but then if it's a warm mist it heats the water up and evaporates it into the air in a fine warm mist. If it's a cold mist, it just "blows" it up into the air with a fan nice and cool.

I agree ... either something is wrong with it or the cap wasn't tightened enough. They are pretty simple to operate. We have a few around the house, in our bedroom and in DS's room.

I received a humidifier as a baby shower gift and it would leave a puddle of water on the side of the machine every time I ran it. My friend had the same model for her baby and it did the same thing, so we chalked it up to it being a piece of junk. See if you can find some reviews online. Maybe other customers have had the same problem with that particular model and you can return it for a better one.

We have it running, and it is now working properly. Crossing my fingers that it we do not have any other problems.

Thank you everyone for your input, and advice.
