Hull to Zeebrugge ??????

Hi, we are planning a trip to disney Paris next June :cool1:

We live near Hull so wanted to get the ferry & drive.We have a 1 year old and a 4 year old so i can pack everything in the car, 20 min drive this side & 3 hours the other.
Does anyone have experience of this? do i just want a standard cabin or should i upgrade? any tips & advice would be appreciated thanks! :flower3:

Ive never done the ferry with a car, however have done a few of the "mini cruises" as foot passengers.

Last time was when my child was about 2 (2 years ago) and we always have a standard cabin as its the cheapest.

As my child was only 2, will pulled the matteress off the top bunk and put it on the floor, no way was I able to get up on the top bunk, nor was I put a 2 year old up there.

I thought that they only do outside cabins and inside, all being the same layout? ie bunk beds. Its not worth the extra to pay for a window (outside cabin) as when you go to bed its dark and in the morning, you are only in the room whilst getting dressed.

Are you taking a travel cot for the 1 year old? If so, then a standard would be fine as long as you (adult) can get up on a top bunk!

We haven't done the same crossing but living on the south coast we do go over to France a fair bit and have done a few overnight crossings. As the pp says, there isn't any point in upgrading your cabin as you only get a window which on a night crossing you can't see anything out of anyway.

If there is an upgrade to a larger cabin it probably still isn''t worth it just for one night (different if you are in a cruise and spending time in the cabin, but on overnight crossings you tend to go to your cabin just to sleep).

A 4 berth cabin has two lower bunks anad 2 upper bunks. The upper ones aren't suitable for children your children's ages, so they will need to be on the bottom bunk but you can, at a push, get an adult and a small child on each bottom bunk...we managed it one year! I'm not sure you'd get a travel cot in a cabin...probably easier just to sleep with the 1 year old in a bottom bunk.

Im embrassed to say I live in hull and have never been on the ferrys ,but my friends have and i would say a standrad cabin would be fine there is entertainment a board so its just somewhere to crash for the night and there really wouldnt be much to see out the window and in june you prob could go for a walk on deck get some sea air and sleep like babies ,im seeing my friend this week and she taveled on hull ferries a few weeks ago i will pick her brains about the journey

Hi I am also from Hull the last time I went on one of the ferries was quite a few years ago but from what I remember a standard one should be fine, as it is only to sleep in, as there is entertainment to keep you going for a bit on board, they used to have a soft play area for the kids, and also a cinema, not sure if this still the case.

Have you looked on P&O website as that should give you some indication of the rooms and whats on offer on board.

Going from Hull was what I was thinking of doing for next year but I'm afraid for 5 of us the price put us off, as it is actually cheaper to drive to dover and stay overnight there to catch a ferry to calais early the next morning.

I know when I looked for next year Hull - Zeebrugge was quoting £454.50 return. :eek:

To go from dover return it would be £98.00 petrol, £55.00 ferry, £120.00 hotel in dover, nearly half the cost of travelling near home, so much for the convenience, but last time i enjoyed the drive (I am a bit of a motorway speed freak, as I regularly drive to Alton Towers and can do it in just under 2 hours lol :eek:

Booked on Monday! :yay:

did decide a standard cabin would be fine then decided i'm quite clostrophobic & may panic! :scared1:

so booked a club cabin which has a double bed & bunk beds then we will have DS in travel cot.
We are traveling on a Sunday 10th of June , with a 4 birth club cabin on the way there and a 5 birth club cabin on the way back, Breakfast & Dinner included we paid £430. ( 5% AA discount)
For us its convenient, as we are limited to time so the traveling overnight is good for us and with the kids been little its good too!
But yes i can see Dover to Calais is much cheaper! :scared1:

and may try it if we go again when kids are older.

So Shares bought & have my Shareholder members card! :yay:
