Hi everyone:-)

I know this subject has already been discussed on here, but its always good to hear different perspectives and comparisons on these two.

I recently rode the Hulk for the first time about a month ago (row 3 both times) it took me a while to get up the nerve to do it, but I loved it! Its pretty much the first and only 'big' coaster I have ever been on.

Now I find myself going back to the parks in a few days and I want to take on Dragon Challenge..which brings me to my question. Knowing that DC is an inverted coaster with no launch, how would you compare it to Hulk? How do the loops feel? It seems like they would be more intense than Hulk from what I see, but I'm not sure.

I'm thinking that maybe I can summon the courage to ride DC after a few rides on Hulk, FJ, and Hippogryph.

So yeah, I guess you could say that I'm still a bit nervous about it, but I'm also tired of being the only one sitting it out and just watching it while everyone else rides it on our trips, LOL. :scared1:

Thanks!

i only like the hulk in the early morning.
love the mist over the water you go thru at that time.

but, i prefer dueling dragons over the hulk.
even with the "battling" portion removed, it's still my favorite

I think once you are over the first lift hill and speeding along, there is not an appreciable difference in an inverted coaster and a traditional one. What I find most discomforting on an inverted coaster is the lift hill itself and the first drop--you are very aware as you are ascending how high you are and that there is nothing beneath you. I enjoy every ride, but I always have a brief thought pass by as I go up that hill: why exactly am I doing this?

That sounds wonderful. My 2nd ride on Hulk was just at sunset, and it looked amazing:)

True, you make a good point about that.

As for the lift hill, I am sure I will be thinking just that, if not worse. That is also precisely the reason that I don't know if I'll ever make it onto HRRR, 90 degree angled vertical lift right into a drop....ehhh, hmm...LOL.

I've ridden my fair share of crazy coasters...I hate that particular lift hill. I've done it twice, and I have no intention of riding it again. I passed on the opportunity to ride it last month, even with no wait.

mesa, double dog dare you to go on it again.........:duck:

I brainwashed my 10yo to believe as I do about HRRR these last 2 trips. Unfortunately, as we were leaving the last night she started thinking for herself and said she might want to do it next time. No way DW will ride with her...dang it!

have a couple of beers and go for it.......
worse thing that could happen is you spray the entire car of peeps with puke.

DC is a much smoother ride than hulk. But the thing with DC is I only rude front row on them. The reason is no matter which row you cannot see anything besides the back of the seats in front of you. The front is all wide open. Now hulk we always wait for 2nd row. This way too that if there is an odd party of 3 for front row DS or I sneak into the front row while boarding. DS did this on Saturday. The TM there will allow it if there is a spot at time of boarding you cannot wait there, then they will ask
you to go into the front row line. This method is really hit or miss.

We have to hit this in October front row.

It took forever for my girls to get me to ride front row on DC and now I love it - best way to ride. I've only ridden Hulk once or twice and didn't really like it.

I only rode the DC because I promised my younger sister I would ride any ride she wanted. All I remember (I hate coasters), is it seemed like your feet were never facing the ground. Oh and my heartbeat.

Duelling Dragons is definitely smoother and both sides are excellent. I love the hill lift.....although once upon a time it would have filled me with dread.

Like others I can do DD several times but Hulk once, maybe twice if it's early in the morning.....it can bash you around a lot.

Both unmissable though.

I think the only thing that could get me onto HRRRR *would* be a few beers, lol. My husband has ridden it several times and has said that he thinks I would probably hate it because of only having that lap bar restraint and the air time on the brake runs, lol.

As for the front row of DC, I think would eventually love it, but I think it best to ride in one of the middle rows near the front for the first time or two so I feel a bit more 'covered', if that makes any sense. I guess its almost kind of comforting to me if I can see the back of the seat in front of me..strange, I know.

Having only gone 3rd row on Hulk, I would say that it seems to be fairly smooth...of course I also sit with my head firmly against the back of the seat because I don't want to bash it against the restraints too, lol.
