Does owning the timeshare mean you become a "resident" of FL and therefore qualify for FL discounts on passes?

Many of us here that feel that some better DVC pass discount (like the FL AP rate) would encourage DVC members to always purchase and use an annual pass. Without a good DVC discount, I know we will be spending time and our $$$$ at other Orlando attractions. DVC membership doesn't mean all your vacation $$$$ goes to the Mouse.;)

If my memory serves me correctly....I believe that there is either a statement in the offerring statement documents, or a form you sign when you purchase that states clearly that buying the timeshare interest in DVC does NOT qualify the purchaser as a FLA resident.

I remember it was one or the other, in the offering paperwork, or purchase documents, can't remember which, but it was there in black in white.

Yes, DVCDave is right. There is a specific statement that buying DVC does not make you a FLorida resident and it specifically states that you are not elligible for Florida resident discounts.

I also think that Disney is cutting off their nose to spite their face by not offering DVC members substantial discounts on passes. I know they made way more on me even with the free passes. We live in Florida, so I do qualify for the Fl res discount....if we ever move back to New York, which is very possible, I will only be buying hoppers and spending less than half the time in the parks as we used to.

The APs or LOS or something that gives you entrence to the parks durimng your trips works like 'Golden Handcuffs', you don't even want to go to other places when WDW is so close and already paid for. Trips in just for a meal or illuminations or something else quick(and likely expensive) are possible and even encouraged with some type of AP or something.

I am glad their last attempt at a DVC pass program failed so miserably, it was a VERY poor attempt.

I agree with RICHY on the DVC's last attempt to offer us some sort of discount on passes. It was nothing more than a deceitful marketing ploy (scam if you will), and deserved to fail. I felt that it actually took me for a fool.....But that is getting away from the topic of the thread.

We buy the 'Park Hopper 7 plus' passes, not the LOS passes. The park Hopper plus passes never expire, so it affords us flexibility to do other things, OR just relax by the pool and do nothing without wasting a cent, or not feel guilty about NOT being in the Disney parks. Our days of being park commandos are long over with.

Note that being a FL resident is different than the discount options. WDW has chosen to not offer those to us. There is no requirement for residency to get discounts other than those WDW has imposed themselves. You'd need to get an ownership with an address or similar to qualify.
