Hubby & Prego do Disney in August! - Final Thoughts (5/25)

Aww, I'm so sad this is over! Emma is so cute, I love her little headband in the one picture. Sooo, when do you think you will take her to Disney World???

That strawberry shortcake looks so good! I might have to make a stop at Sunshine Seasons just for that! I am glad you had such a wonderful last day at MK. Last days are always the worst especially when other people's vacations are just starting. I always try to make my self think that other people went through that when they saw us checking in on their last day. I agree with you I am upset but once I get home and see my puppies it makes it all better. Thank you for all you have shared, it sounds like you had a wonderful trip!

Me too! It's such a bummer to think about the last day of a vacation! And thanks! Emma is so much fun! As one of my friends said, you know it's bad when your kids are dressing better than you!
And yes!! Try the strawberry shortcake! It is soooo yummy!!

Dole Whip! Yum! You made me want one!

I ALWAYS say I'm going to buy a Tigger is that you? shirt and I never do. I love it! Super cute. I NEED to get one this trip.

You totally made me miss BCV with that shot of the pirate ship. :( Loved that pool.

I hate seeing people check-in when I'm leaving!! That's the worst.

Emma is so cute! Just think, next trip, it'll be a whole different experience when she sees everything for the first time. :goodvibes

OMG! That Dole Whip was awesome! I know next time to get another one, or two...or three...:rolleyes1
BCV is sooo on my list of places to stay! I loved walking around that resort!
Thank you! And I can't wait to take her!! Her personality is developing! It is so freakin' cute!!

Hi, GREAT trip report!! And a BEAUTIFUL baby!! We LOVE visiting WDW in the Summer. Thanks for making me FEEL the MAGIC!! Joan
Thank you so much!!! Glad you enjoyed it!

Amanda!!!! I am here. I plan on reading the rest of your TR today. How have you been?

Hey Lynn!!! How are ya?! Life is good, busy but good! I read your comments on FB all the time! BTW, that's so cool you drink Monavie! I've been on it for about a year and a half. Love, love, love it! But I meant to ask what's the difference between Active and EMV (since it helped with your runs)?
Hope you're doing great!!

:cutie: Congrats on baby Emma, she is beautiful!

I just found your TR and I've been loving it so far... trying to get through it this evening while getting some things done around the house...I love your pink tink shirt during the MK day and I love that J is wearing a WDW s hirt as well. Dbf is not a huge WDW fan so I LOVE it, when Dbf finds an excuse to buy a shirt at the park "oh,i'm so hot, I need a shirt without sleeves" Ya okay, sweetheart..

anyhoo- just wanted to post to say I loved reading about trip, you've made me want to stay at the Boardwalk.. it seems so convenient to walk rather than relying on buses so much. you know?

Hey and welcome aboard!! Thank you! The shirt was a little small since I ordered before I was pregnant, so it was a little tight around the tummy ;)
And I was able to convince J to get a shirt if I promised it wouldn't be too kiddy. That and if it was his favorite characters! The BWV are sooo nice! We were really spoiled staying near Epcot. You could walk there and to DHS along with taking the monorail from Epcot to Magic Kingdom. It was awesome!
Thanks for reading! I'll go start up on your TRs!

Well you def. coudln't tell the shirt was a little small... it looked great. When Dbf is looking for shirt... he's always saying... it can't be too kid like :rotfl:

I love the idea that you can walk a various parks... just seem so conveinant.

Any future trips planned?

I didn't know you had a PTR, i'm going to pop over. Were going in August, staying at AKL from August 19th to the 25th!

I know!! I kept pulling it down ALL day! By the way, go to Zazzle.com for those type of t-shirts!
I read your TR. I'm so sorry it was such a frustrating trip! :guilty: By the way, the pictures were GORGEOUS!! I thought you looked great!
And that PTR is from our last trip, I should probably edit that.. :rolleyes1 I'm hoping to get a trip for the holidays! J just doesn't know about it, hehe!

Before I say goodbye to this TR, :sad1: I wanted to post some highlights/lowlights of our trip. I would also like to thank everyone again sooooo much for tagging along! Geez, almost a year later and I'm still thinking abou it!
So let's start with the not-so-favorites/probably won't do again:
1. We weren't that crazy about O'hana (hope I don't get flamed for this!).
IMG_1713.jpg

I know some people love it, but we didn't care for it too much. I thought the meat was too done and the sides were so-so. I'm sure the long wait (leading to major hunger pains and frustrations) didn't help! I remember loving the Luau when I was younger, so I thought about planning that for our next trip. Has anyone been lately?
2. Breakfast at Tusker House.
IMG_1871.jpg

Don't get me wrong! This was nice, it's probably one we won't do again! The food was really good and the people were really nice! I just know there are other character meal I would love to try!
3. NOT being able to ride the BIG stuff!!
IMG_1624.jpg

Now Disney had nothing to do with this, it was just heartbreaking to miss out on all the big kid stuff! That's why I made J promise to take me again when I wasn't prego!
4. The crowds
IMG_1736.jpg

and the heat!
IMG_1573.jpg

But that was our choice. It kind of stinks being teachers since the only times when can really go is when everyone else can.

Continued on next post:

Cont from previous
And now onto our FAVORITES!! I limited it to our top 5!
1. Garden Grill!
IMG_1638.jpg

The food was awesome! The characters were great! And they even gave us a card! It was wonderful! And of course that is where J admitted he wanted to return!:yay:
2. Crystal Palace!
IMG_2008.jpg

I loved this when I was younger and loved it when we went back! Breakfast was incredible (just thinking about those Mickey waffles makes my mouth water, yummm…). We may try lunch or dinner, or just go back for breakfast!
3. Tangerine Café (notice how my top 3 are food related, ha!).
IMG_1937.jpg

This place was off-the-charts great! Especially for a counter service! Minus the weird kids starring at us, this was probably one of our favorite meals!
4. Staying at an EPCOT resort!
IMG_1699.jpg

We LOVED staying here! It was so easy to walk to EPCOT and DHS! We could also take the monorail from EPCOT to MK! The only place we really had to take a bus was AK (that and Typhoon Lagoon and DTD). I would love to stay at the Beach Club next time, but we’re game to try someplace totally different!
5. ALL the help from the DIS Boards!
Planning for the trip really paid off! J was so impressed how I knew what to do, where to go, and what time things had to be done. None of it could have been done without you all! I love the boards so much (and fully admit to being addicted when I have the time!) and can’t wait to plan for a future trip.
Speaking of, I tried talking J into a holiday trip this year (working out the finances and such). He just gave me the grown-up look of “Where is the money going to come from?”. So as of now we don't have anything planned...officially.:guilty: I do have to remind myself that we just had a baby and we are trying to move this summer. As one mentioned the other day, I need to put on my big-girl panties and be a grown-up...for once!
That doesn't mean I won't plan something on the side if I can get the funds together! :thumbsup2
Worse case scenario is that we'll wait until Dec 2011! :scared1:So far away!! But I can just tell myself it'll be here before I know it!:thumbsup2
Thank you again for reading and I hope you enjoyed my long (and drawn out) trip report! :lovestruc

Sorry to hear you didn't love Ohana or TH! Those were two of my favorites last trip! I'm looking forward to this year, Ohana on my birthday! I need a lapu lapu!

I'll miss your TR!

Ohh... I love that you posted some "Final Thoughts"..:goodvibes I'm shocked to hear that O'hana is on your not-so-favorite list... we are eating dinner there for the first time on our upcoming August trip. (no flames here tho)! We ate a Tusker house, probably wouldn't do it again either.

I"m also shocked that the Gardill grill made it to one of your favorite moments...Although, we've now changed from AKL to POP... hopefully one day we'll be able to stay at a Boardwalk hotel.

December 2011 is so far away:scared1:... but you have some dis.:)

I love all your final thoughts. Garden Grill is one of the ADR's I made for our trip in October. I can see what you mean about Ohana. We liked it but the meats can be dry due to the open grill I think and you had to wait so long for your table. I completely agree about the Epcot resort! We were very dissapointed when we rented points for October and Beach Club and Boardwalk were filled. We are staying at VWL. We actually just purchased DVC through resale and our home resort is Beach Club! We just sent in our closing paper work and are very excited. Thanks Amanda for all of your final thoughts!!!!! I hope you plan a trip soon.

I know! I was a little disappointed, but it probably didn't help that we were one of the last to be seated for the night (so who knows how long the food had been sitting out!). And I might have it enjoyed more had I been able to drink a lapu lapu! ;)
Thanks! I'm gonna miss it, too! :sad1:

Thanks! Most people enjoy O'hana (which is why we tried it). Like most places it's probably a hit or miss.
Garden Grill really surprised us! I believe they had just revamped the menu. Everything we had there was incredible! And I highly recommend the BW! There weren't many CS places (except on the actual boardwalk), but we loved it!
I know!! I just have to keep myself occupied in the mean time! ;)

Thanks so much!! I hope you enjoy GG! It was really a cool (and yummy) set up!
Congrats on buying DVC!!! I would love to do that some day! Of course J has to bring me back to reality  Who knows, maybe one day we'll be able to! And I'm sure you guys will love VWL! I'm thinking that's where will stay next, especially if we bring Emma!
And I'll be sure to keep you posted! Guess I could start a PTR now, if anyone would read it! :lmao:
I hope you guys have fun in October! :goodvibes
