OK, I am doing well on my diet, trying not to cheat, and hubby just doesn't get it. He knows I am on Atkins. He knows I can't eat sweets. Yet, he proceeds to make 3 batches of cookies this morning for some reason. He said, "Well, I tried to wait until you left." Well, If he had waited till about 5:00 this evening it would have been fine, I would be leaving to go to work, but no, he just couldn't wait this long. So, here I am dying to have a cookie (they smell so good) and he wonders why I am mad at him. I work 2 jobs so am rarely home and he fixes cookies all the time while I am gone. That is no problem, I don't even care that they are in the pantry (I can't smell and see them with the gooey warm centers when they are put up), but he can't even wait a few hours for me to leave. Am I being to demanding to request he not make them when I am home? His chocolate covered cherries don't really bother me, his eggnog and quick don't really bother me, but the cookies were just too much. I was about in tears cause I wanted one so bad. But I know if I got one, I would eat about 4 or so, so just a bite is not even an option for me. Thanks for letting me vent!!

I know haw hard that is. My DH has always been the one to sabatage me. You hang in there. We're proud of you. Can you get out of the house? Go for a walk or shopping? Good Luck.

Oh, Julie! What a huge test of your willpower!!

I guess when we get to the point that we can stick to our respective eating plans and really ignore those illegal temptations around us, we'll know that we've truly changed our eating habits for life.

Try to be gentle with your DH. He probably wasn't trying to sabotage you... and you've survived a really tough test. You're so STRONG!!!::yes::

You mean you didnt have one?!>!> Thats great! You won this mini battle! You can win others, and the fact that you didnt give in, is only a testament to the fact that you are in this mind and body! WTG!

BTW my DH does the same thing, I really dont think it is done to be mean, just out of ignorance!

Thanks guys! He knew I was mad at him, so he left the house and went to wal-mart... lol. I am still tempted by those cookies, but I am still beng strong and I leave for work in an hour. By the time I get back, I will have forgotten about them. My main problem is I reallydon't like the taste of splenda, so the desserts made from that just don't appeal to me :( I made some low carb frosting last night, so I had a bite of that to try and curb the temptation, and it has helped a good bit. Thanks again for the support.

have you checked the package? Maybe they dont have all that many carbs in one or half of one, just to quench your hunger.

Remember dont get mad. Dont say, "how could you..." or "you know...." tell him how you feel and what you want. Try, "I'm feeling really good about myself on this diet. I really don't want to blow it, but the smell of those baking cookies is calling my name." Or since its in the past tense, try, "Man the smell of those baking cookies, yesterday, were really really REALLY hard for me to resist."

Remember you want him on your side.

(((HUGS))) Julie,

I know how you feel........its the smell of them all warm that makes it so tempting. My DH made me (nicely though) make cookies with the kids last Sunday while he was watching the game. The kids HAD to have them then, and DH will not do anything during his DALLAS games. It was more than I could handle, and it all started with me licking the dough off my fingers. I gave in and had some, and a few bites of dough. I had more than I wanted too!

Good for you for resisting those cookies.

Melanie

I've had the same downfall with a wedding yesterday. A table full of delicous homemade cookies when the "real food" from the caterer was bland to put it nicely. :crazy2:

I didn't fair as well as you did and told myself I'd only have a couple. NOPE no willpower once I ate one.

Why I brought some home is beyond me.

Anyway, I've had no bread or carbs besides those darn cookies and will get back on track tomorrow.

My husband does the same things. Only he doesn't cook. He thinks Atkins is crazy and unhealthy. Every dinner he says, "THAT'S what you are eating???" Good for you for having such strong willpower. I know how it feels to want one so bad that you are nearly in tears.

Just thought I'd update everyone on the cookies situation.... Well, I held out all day, and (hehehe) Geoff didn't get to eat many of the cookies either!!! He left the bag of cookies on the couch, and my dog got into themmmm I know I shouldn't have, but I about died laughing when I found out. Anyway, thanks again for all the support. This is a great group of people and I am so glad to have joined all of you :)

:teeth: :rotfl: Hope your dog enjoyed them. That is just so funny.
You did great resisting those cookies, good for you:jumping1:

How frustrating for you, Julie. Do you want us to have a WISH meet at your house and have a "little talk" with your dh?

Just teasing, of course. Sounds like you need to have a sit down talk with your husband, though. Ask him to help you succeed and explain how baking those cookies constitutes sabotage. Good luck with this.

Hey! I just noticed your tag, so cute :)

I keep telling him he can't have it both ways. I can't make cookies, cakes and sweet potato souffle and still lose weight. Maybe one of these days he will get it. I tried explaining it to him, but he just does not understand. And the funny thing is, I can watch him eat cake, cookies, chocolates and everything else with no temptation, but the baking of them is just too much. Especially when they come out warm and gooey.
And the tag.... hehehe, I guess the tag fairy reads my posts too!!! It's so cute!!!
