HS to Disney Springs

Since we are not super thrilled with the dining options at HS, would it be easy to leave HS and head to Disney Springs for Dinner then come back for the fireworks ? Is this too much running around ? We have a 9 and 5 yr old. Can you take a bus from HS to DS or do I need to hit a resort first ? How close is DS to HS...thanks in advance.

You can take a bus from DHS to DS but only after 4pm and only one way, there is no return service from DS to any of the theme parks at any time. Have you looked into the options at the Epcot Resorts? Boardwalk, Swan, Dolphin, Yacht, Beach club...those would be easier to get to and from, you could walk or take a boat With no traffic a bus/car ride from DHS to DS is about a 10 min drive

It's easier to book an ADR at one of the resorts and take the bus (or boat) to the resort and back to DHS.

Do you have Park Hopper tickets?
(As in, going to/from Epcot is much easier than DS.)

Otherwise...
Boardwalk and the Epcot resorts are even closer to DHS.
Lots of restaurant choices there, too.

We are eating at Beaches and Cream on our HS day. Easy boat ride or walk from HS.

You can taxi or Lyft from HS to DS also. All the parks have a taxi stand outside of Main entrances. We took one from AK to our resort Dolphin last trip but that was before Lyft and Uber had become so common.

I also agree with going to one of the resorts. Like someone said, if you can get a Beaches n Cream ADR, it is well worth it. Great food and a fun atmosphere.
