HS or Resort Quick Service?

I’m well aware that Hollywood Studios doesn’t have any “good” quick service restaurants. I tried Rosie’s All American Cafe last year and it was the worst meal from the whole trip. I ended up doing table service for dinner to make up for the horrid lunch. Lol.

This summer, my boyfriend and I have the QS meal plan so we want to stick to QS restaurants only. I’m considering leaving the park and traveling to a resort for one of our meals on our HS park day. I’m willing to lose the little bit of time in the park instead of wasting money on bad food. (We don’t have park hopper tickets, so if we left, it would need to be to go to a resort.)

I’m looking for your recommendations!

1.) What/where are your favorite resort QS locations? What’s your favorite meal to order from there?

2.) What is your favorite QS location in Hollywood Studios? What’s your favorite meal to order from there?

Your help will really help with my planning! Thank you! :disrocks:

Usually, we have pizza for our QS (Rizzo's) at DHS. Lately, when visiting, though, I've been into the chicken and waffles (kids portion)at the Backlot Express. You can eat inside or outside at both of those places. There are a ton of seating areas. Backlot also has topping/soda station which is nice (free refills!) We tend to avoid the area by Rosies/ RNR as it is all outdoors and can be hard to find seats. I would take a look at the menus ahead of time and see if there is anything you like.

Would you be willing to go to EP for a meal? Les Halles is a good QS restaurant in France.

She said she doesn't have hoppers.

OP, while I would agree that the QS options at DHS are somewhat limited, I personally don't think it's worth it to leave the park just to eat at another QS. I've had decent food at Fairfax Fare and ABC Commissary. Depending on when you're going, you could also try Woody's Lunchbox.

We ate at the ABC Commissary recently. The Mediterranean chicken salad was very good. Grilled chicken, hummus, and pita plus salad.

The chicken and rib combo was not good. Both the chicken and the ribs were seriously lacking in actual meat. I don’t recommend it.

2.) What is your favorite QS location in Hollywood Studios? What’s your favorite meal to order from there? Well, we're quite fond of the Hollywood Brown Derby lounge, I don't know how old you are but they have wonderful drinks and a nice assortment of tapas (lamb sliders, charcuterie board) Other than that, DS QS is slim pickings.

Other than that we love Wolfgang Puck Express at DS, they have good food at decent prices and quite a selection to please everyone. (Chinese Chicken Salad and Bacon Wrapped meatloaf are among my faves)

I'll start with your second question first. The man and DGD enjoyed their impromptu meal at ABC Commissary for the most part. At the time salmon was on the menu and the man liked it. DGD ordered chicken and ribs but didn't like the ribs. She prefers dry rubbed ribs over the BBQ sauced version served here. It's a hybrid QS so you place your order, find a table and the food is brought to you. Large space, nicely sized tables, padded seating and A/C. I wasn't hungry so ate nothing. I enjoyed the Cesar salad @ Catalina Eddie's accepting it for what it is. Everyone else in my party liked the burgers at Rosie's.

The only resort QS we've eaten lunch or dinner at is Capt. Cook's over at Poly. The seafood stew was amazingly good from my POV. I had originally ordered the pork nachos didn't like them (disparate seasoning) so on my way to the garbage can noted a table eating the stew and ordered that instead. The 2 children had some sort of salads,1 w/ meat added, the other w/out. Don't recall what types.

Were I at HS and looking for a QS meal at the resorts I'd look towards the Epcot hotels since they are closer.

If you want to leave DHS, I would recommend either strolling (or taking the boat) to either the new Market at Ale & Compass at YC (it's brand new, lovely and has a varied menu) or Boardwalk Bakery (great salads and sandwiches and sitting on the Boardwalk on a nice day is so nice).
