If you are there and have never seen the lights it's a no brainer to go see them, crowds and all. You'll never have another chance.

On your dates, plan to stay at HS. Walk to Boardwalk and rest/eat if you need to get away from the park but I wouldn't travel to MK, and back. Not on those dates. Everything will take longer then. I think you'll waste a lot of time traveling. It won't have much benefit

I agree completely!! We finally decided today that DHS is the only park this trip. Frankly, after MK this past June, I really do not feel like another jammed wishes viewing. We will watch wishes from the Poly beach on arrival night!

Ugh, I was telling my guests all morning to arrive at DHS by 3 to try and beat the lot closing... I bet some of them are mad at me now.

The parking lot was open and lots of cars were going in at 6pm on Friday. We enjoyed the lights, but it was very hard to walk inside. More crowded than it has been recently.

If you have an ADR that you can prove and that you would likely miss if you had to re-route, they will give you a colored piece of paper on your windshield and let you in to park.

DHS is crazy right now! But I don't think the park itself closed, but I definitely wouldn't take my car there. I only hop over there now!

Went to play on Monday and cheerleaders had once again completely taken over! I got a headache just waiting SR for RnRc. That with the lights and DHS is a crazy town right now.

Still, if you don't park your car, it "should" be OK?

It's very crowded at the entry point. Seems people just stop as soon as they see the first light and it causes a bottleneck. Once you get around that mess it thins out.

That was our experience . We were routed past Muppets and Mama Melrose's and entered the area by the end of the side street (not allowed to go up the side street from that point) and around to the end of the street by the spinning globe. It was absolutely jam packed there because everyone just stops dead to take pictures and videos. We edged our way through, and about a quarter of the way up the street, the crowds became much more manageable. Still tons of people, but there was much more open walking space the rest of the way up. The side street was surprisingly maneuverable, too. And the upper end of the street was much more sparsely populated. So don't get too discouraged when you first enter - just move up the street, and it does get better.

We went to DHS on Tuesday (the 8th), and got turned away from the parking lot around 4:00. I REALLY wish that the resorts would have some sort of notification to let people know about things like that. I would have just taken a bus from Pop if I had known it was closed. We ended up just going back to Pop and catching a bus. We were fully prepared to walk right back out of the gates if the crowds were insane, but were actually surprised. Went directly to LB (posted wait time for the film and the m&gs were all 20 mins) to check it out, and it wasn't crowded at all. The dance party wasn't awful either. It was just dark when we made it to the streets, and it was pretty packed, but not unmanageable, especially after getting inside a ways. There was even open curb space just down from the Writers Stop.
We had planned to hop a boat to Epcot for dinner, around 8/9 or so, but the line to get on the boat was allll the way down the sidewalk where it connects to the open plaza area. It was at LEAST an hour wait to get a boat. Ended up just going back to the resort.

today DHS has morning EMH which would contribute to it closing so early. I'm not sure on the 18th. Are you staying on site? If you are you can always ask at the front desk for them check
MVMCP is sold out for the 18th so people will likely go to DHS or Epcot.

Not staying onsite but will try to be there at opening time. I guess it's not the end of the world if we have to park at Epcot and use the bus to get there though. Would buses still run back to Epcot after closing time at HS?

Here dhs now. At 3pm They started sending people to ak parking lot, I guess Epcot was getting full. I parked at the over flowing lot for boardwalk. I've never seen so many people walking to DHS
It's pretty packed now. TSM wait is 2 hours

DH had a meeting at the Yacht Club today and said the same thing, he's never seen so many people walking to DHS! We're going Wednesday with my parents so they can see the lights for the last time, and I'm dreading it.

I just got back home, walking from DHS back to Boardwalk the bus situation was insane, so many people, they did have a lot of charter buses working though so at least the line kept moving

They will be running buses back to Epcot until all DHS guests are accommodated. With Epcot being a designated parking area for guests and CMs, Disney is using their buses and Mears to get everyone to where they need to be.

Is there a designated area of the bus stops to get this one? Or because this is a temporary parking situation, is there a makeshift area to go to?

For DHS and for Epcot, it would be the regular bus area. There are designated park-to-park loading areas.
