my curiosity has me. what in the world is the logic to having fireworks and fantasmic basically at the same time. i believe they are 15 min apart from start time. why would disney make two popular entertainment vehicles basically impossible to do in one night. i assume it's to make guests come back.
possible learning from universal when they made guests buy two park tix to see harry potter

I think it's ridiculous.

It seems to me like they want to try and make you come back a second day to a park with barely enough to fill one day.

My guess is I think they saw that everyone can't get in to F! on a given night so they were already going to come back on a different night
They figured it just made sense to do something else for those guests during the time for F!

Well, my friend isn't appreciating it if they are doing it for guest benefit. She has 6 park days without hoppers. She hoped to do both on their one DHS date. Now that's impossible.

I wouldn't be surprised if they received a lot of guest complaints when they scaled back the DHS firework show so that it's mostly projections and not a lot of fireworks. They probably figured they need a way to thin out the number of people trying to see them on any specific night, since you have to be near the projection towers to see them. Putting Fantasmic and the SW projections/FW within 30 minutes of each other effectively makes it so that you have to choose. Should help getting a good seat at Fantasmic!

I would guess splitting the mob between 2 locations rather than deal with 1 gigantic mob at one or the other location (or from one location moving to the other location after) is more manageable in terms of crowd control, security, capacity, and whatever.

As a family who really wants to see both and are only going for one day though, it sucks :(

Unless they had two F! on a given night you weren't able to see both the old Star War fireworks and F! on the same night either. Not unless you watched from the entrance

Ah! I stand corrected! Well then, it's just that they want you to upgrade your ticket to hopper or stay longer! :goodvibes

I think that is a very strong possibility. Plus, with the requirement of Hopper or WP on the tickets for free dining packages they sort of think many guests already have it

I, for one, don't mind it. My preference would be to have 2 Fantasmic shows available. We always went to the 2nd show for reduced crowds. But, this October, given there is only one Fantasmic per night, I'm glad they made it impossible to do both. We always have hoppers, so we can just hop over from MK, Epcot, or AK to see Fantasmic and not worry about whether there will be any seating left.

Honestly I think it's just about crowd control. I don't think there's ill intent. With both shows at or around the same time you've got hoards of people trying to rush back and forth, people leaving one show early to get to the other...logistically not a good situation.

Didn't they previously have like a 15 minute window to get form F! to SW, but the stampede was proving unmanageable? I think that's the main reason for the switch. Selling a few extra Park Hoppers is just a bonus.

They've always only done one some times of the year, no?
And it's not always been nightly either.

The cut back to a few times a week following the economy collapse. But that has been the exception and not the rule. I believe it's been nightly for quite some time again now.
